Sean Astin Joins Demoted

The Hollywood Reporter writes that actor Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings) has joined the cast of the independent comedy, Demoted.

Michael Vartan (Monster-In-Law), David Cross (Alvin and the Chipmunks), Celia Weston (No Reservations) and Sara Foster (The Big Bounce) will also star in the film.

Demoted follows the story of two tire salesmen (Astin and Vartan) who entertain themselves at the expense of a co-worker (Cross).  However, the co-worker soon turns the table and humiliates the bullies by making them do secretarial work.

Foster will play Astin’s wife, who believes that her husband has been promoted, while Weston plays a secretary helping with the revenge plot.  Filming is set to begin next month in Michigan.

In the meantime, we can see Sean Astin in the sports drama Forever Strong, opening in September.
