Sex Pistols single tops collectors list

Record collector magazine looks at ‘sound’ investments.

Record Collector magazine has come up with a list of the top 51 most sought after vinyl records, with discs valued up to $12,000, depending on their condition.

After the Sex Pistols punk band released their controversial song God Save the Queen, A&M Records dropped them from their label and destroyed the remaining copies in their possession, making that rare original A&M single worth more than $12,000 today.

The band was quickly picked up by a young Richard Branson at Virgin, who re-released the single to huge success in England.

In the second place, the first Beatles album, Please Please Me, with a black and gold label in that signifies first pressing, is worth up about $5,500.
