Shailene Woodley strives to look natural

Shailene Woodley hates having her photos retouched.

The ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ actress tries to always look natural and was inspired to wear as little makeup as possible to red carpet events after seeing a heavily Photoshopped image of herself in a magazine.

She recalled: "I had big red lips … boobs about three times the size they are in real life. My stomach was completely flat. My skin was also flawless.

"But the reality is that I do not have those lips and my skin is not flawless and I do have a little bit of a stomach. It was not a proper representation of who I am … I just want to be me."

However, the 22-year-old starlet hasn’t always dared to go bare-faced as she used to have self-confidence issues about her looks and her weight when she was a teenager.

Asked what she would tell her 15-year-old self, she told Interview magazine: "I was afraid I was too skinny. I also didn’t have a lot of self-confidence. I projected a lot of confidence … But on the inside, I was very mean to myself.

"So I would definitely say to myself at that age, ‘You’re worthy. You’re beautiful.’ "
