Sharon Stone designs jewelry for charity

Sharon Stone designs jewelry collection to raise money for clean water initiatives in Africa.

Actress Sharon Stone, 52, in partnership with jeweller Damiani, has designed the Maji jewelry collection to raise money for clean water initiatives in Africa, reports Coco Perez.

On Monday night (November 29), the movie star unveiled her Maji Collection, named after the Swahili word for "water.” The gold and silver bracelets, rings and necklaces manufactured by Damiani feature rough and uncut diamonds that evoke Africa’s heritage.

Proceeds from the collection go to Drop in the Bucket, a charity that provides drinking water and sanitation to children in Africa. As a part of the product launch, Damiani donated $200,000, enough to build 50 wells that will provide clean water for more than 10,000 people.

In 2008, Stone worked with Damiani as the face of their advertising campaign.
