There’s always going to be a lot of talk about Sidney Crosby’s situation. Always. It won’t change… as long as he’s a member of the Penguins organization. Because we know that things aren’t working out in Pittsburgh right now. And when you recognize that #87 is an ultra-competitive guy in everyday life, it’s normal to wonder about his future with the Pens. That said, Crosby said something to Elliotte Friedman and Kyle Bukauskas that deserves to be emphasized. The Penguins captain said he always wants to win when he shows up at the arena for a game. And in a context where the Penguins won’t be winning much in the next few years… that comment really gets a reaction.

[content-ads] Crosby maintains that he doesn’t have control over the situation, in the context where many see him being traded to a Stanley Cup contending club and in the context where many wonder if he wants to leave Pittsburgh. But in reality… he knows very well, that he’s in control of his destiny. He’s the one who’s going to go up to Kyle Dubas’ office if he wants to play elsewhere. He’s the one who’s going to ask his GM to send him somewhere else so he can win… because Dubas will never move him without asking his permission. And Crosby is clearly aware of that too. To hear him say it, just the same… it rings some bells. We’ve never seen him talk bad about his future, and he hasn’t done that, but reminding us that he wants to win night after night and that his goal is to be successful for the team he’s with isn’t nothing either. In fact, it’s nothing to calm the rumors about him.

– Can’t wait.

– To be continued.
