Nasty American Idol judge Simon Cowell denies rumours he asked his girlfriend, American Idol make-up artist Mezghan Hussainy, to marry him.
His friend and publicist Max Clifford told Us magazine, "I spoke to Simon in London yesterday afternoon, just before he took his flight back to LA. I asked him: ‘Look, are you engaged? Is it true?,’ and he said, ‘No! No. I’m not engaged.’
The couple are not planning to get married for now.
Last October, Hussainy, 36, went out with Cowell to celebrate his 50th birthday. He had broken up with his girlfriend of the past six years, Terri Seymour, only six weeks before.
Engagement rumours began surfacing when Hussainy was seen sharing a romantic dinner with Cowell at Mr. Chow in London. She had a new diamond ring on her finger.
This week, Simon Cowell said that his girlfriend is the one, she was very special and he was even thinking about having kids. "I think I need to have little Simons around," he said.
Hussainy was born in Afghanistan but grew up in Hollywood. She has worked as a make-up artist on American Idol since its second season.
"Yes, they’re happy. But they’re not engaged. That’s straight from Simon’s mouth," Max Clifford adds.
