This list of the top 25 musicals was unveiled at a Hollywood Bowl ceremony Sunday night, during a concert presented by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, in association with the AFI.

A jury composed of 500 artists, including composers, musicians, critics and historians, selected the top 25 musicals.  The top 10 were as follows:  Singin’ in the Rain, West Side Story, The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, Cabaret, Mary Poppins, A Star Is Born (1954), My Fair Lady, An American in Paris and Meet Me in St. Louis.

Musical director John Maureci and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra played excerpts from the musicals, while clips from the movie were shown on the big screen.
