Slash shares his five fav guitar solos

The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist loves guitar solos.

Slash recently released his first solo album where he worked with a wide range of collaborators like Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop and Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas.

He gave an interview to Rolling Stone magazine and shared his top five list of the greatest rock guitar solos of all time.

Number one on his list is Ted Nugent on the song Strangehold. This song appeared on the guitarist’s first solo album released in 1975. Slash’s second favourite solo is Mick Taylor on the track Can’t Hear Me Knocking? from the album Sticky Fingers by the Rolling Stones that came out in 1971.

Slash stays in the 1970s with his solo selection. His third pick is Freeway Jam by Jeff Beck. It’s off the Blow By Blow album that was released in 1975. Slash went on to name Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page as playing the fourth best guitar solo of all time. He thinks Whole Lotta Love on Led Zeppelin II, released at the end of October 1969, was one of the songs that set the tone for the prolific decade to come.

Slash rounds off this top five list of the best guitar solos of all time with the song Last Child by Aerosmith. A young Joe Perry played guitar on this song off the Rocks album that came out in 1976.
