Slumdog Millionaire Continues Winning Streak

Slumdog Millionaire earned seven awards at the BAFTAS.

Danny Boyle’s film, Slumdog Millionaire, received seven awards at the BAFTAS, which is the British equivalent to the Oscars.

The film was honoured for Best Film of the year, winning over The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Danny Boyle also won an award for Best Director.

Slumdog Millionaire still has yet to contend at the Oscars ceremony on February 22, where the film has been nominated in 10 categories.

At the BAFTAS, Kate Winslet was named Best Leading Actress for The Reader, while the Best Leading Actor award went to Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler.

For supporting roles, Heath Ledger earned an award posthumously, once again, for his performance in The Dark Knight, and Penelope Cruz won for Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
