Snowshoeing in Quebec

Following in the footsteps of trappers and traders.

For an invigorating winter hike through beautiful wilderness, Quebec is home to a variety of snowshoe trails throughout the region.

Located in the mountainous area northeast of Quebec City, Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix has earned a reputation as one of the top winter destinations in the province, and features snowshoing, skiing, and hiking. As one of the most scenic sections of the Trans Canada Trail, the Sentier des Caps offers snowshoers the choice of numerous day trips or strenuous multi-day excursions on the 40-km route from St-Tite-des-Caps to Petite-Rivière-Saint-François.

In the Eastern Townships, Mont-Orford Park has 54 miles (87 km) of trails ranging from flat and gentle, to steep and challenging with the climb of Mont Chauve. Park Environment Naturel de Sutton offers 12 miles (20 km) of snowshoeing trails.

North of Montreal, Mont Tremblant resort offers tours for novices or adventurers. Mont Tremblant Park, as well as its sister in the south Laurentians, Oka, have designated self-guided trails.

South of Montreal you’ll find a favorite snowshoe destination: Mont-Megantic National Park with nearly 43 miles (70 km) of trails through hardwood forest and mountain. Views stretch as far as New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
