Sofia Coppola Gives Birth

Director Sofia Coppola recently gave birth to her first child.

According to E!Online, Coppola delivered her daughter, Romy, yesterday.  The baby’s father is French singer Thomas Mars.  The two met for the first time when the 35 year-old woman was directing Lost in Translation.  The song Too Young, by Mars and his band Phoenix, are featured in the film’s soundtrack.

Coppola separated from filmmaker Spike Jonze in 2003 after four years of marriage.  Later that year, Coppola earned an Oscar for Lost in Translation.

Coppola’s latest film, Marie Antoinette, stars Kirsten Dunst, and opened in theatres last month.  Critics have praised the feature film, although some journalists didn’t favour her modernistic view of the 18th century.
