Solange Knowles has been named the new face of Madewell.
The 26-year-old DJ – who was signed by Next Models in January – has landed her first major fashion contract in the deal to front the fall/winter 2012-14 campaign for the US retailer, which will also see her release a clothing collaboration with the brand.
Madewell – a sister company of J. Crew – praised Solange as "ever-so-stylish".
They added: "No one pulls off a style mix quite like Solange."
A behind-the-scenes video released for the campaign shows the musician modeling daywear, which focuses on the concept of mixing and matching and includes printed dresses teamed with ankle boots and a fedora and boyfriend jeans worn with a chunky knit and neon heels.
Solange – younger sister of singer Beyonce Knowles – has previously modelled for Rimmel make-up, and also appeared on the catwalk for Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition.
She has also appeared in advertisements for her family’s clothing line House of Dereon.
She follows in the footsteps of Alexa Chung, who has previously fronted an advertising campaign for Madewell.
