Sonic Youth Signs With Indie Label

Sonic Youth have inked a deal with the independent record label Matador.

The band will record new songs this fall with plans to release their next album in 2009, under the Matador label.

This will be the first time for Sonic Youth to work with an independent company since their 1988 release of the album, Daydream Nation.  Following the release of that album, the band signed a deal with the major label, Geffen.  Their contract with Geffen ended with the 2006 release of Rather Ripped.

Sonic Youth will join other Matador artists, including Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Cat Power, and Fucked Up.
