Soundgarden can’t make a bad album

Soundgarden claim is it ”not possible” for them to make a bad record.

The ‘Black Hole Sun’ grunge rockers – Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Shepherd – believe that because they are so critical of themselves and each other, any weak ideas will be rooted out before they record anything.

Guitarist Kim said: ”You’ve got four guys who are pretty self-critical of each other, how could a bad record come out of that?

”How could anyone come out with a bad idea when it’s three other guys laughing and saying ‘what the f***k is that? It’s not possible for us to do a bad record.

”Here’s how it’s possible to have a bad record, you got one jackass who runs the whole thing, and a bunch of guys they hire around them .. if you’ve got a band where one guy calls the shot, that band is gonna suck.”

The group originally split in 1997, but made a comeback in 2010, releasing a new album, ‘King Animal’ in 2012 and have been pleased with the positive response it got.

Bassist Ben said: ”I would hear a lot like, ‘Oh you guys actually made a record that is good for a comeback record’ and I was like ‘Well what do you expect?’

”I guess the other bands that have reunited don’t really care or something … us four smart asses, what, we’re gonna put out something crappy? No.”
