Star Trek Is 2009’s Most Pirated Film

TorrentFreak.com has once again compiled a list of the most pirated films of the year through the BitTorrent file sharing application. For 2009, Star Trek came in first place will 11 million downloads. It beat The Dark Knight, which was downloaded 7 million times last year.

Star Trek is closely followed by Transformers 2, which was pirated 10.6 million times over the year.

Surprisingly, in third place on the list is Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla, which was a box office dud. Fourth position went to the comedy The Hangover.

The second instalment of Twilight, New Moon, took fifth position, followed by District 9.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was found in seventh, State of Play in eighth, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine in ninth.

Finally, the film Knowing, starring Nicolas Cage rounded off the list with 6.9 million downloads.
