Star Trek Release Delayed

Paramount Pictures has decided to hold the film’s release until May 8, 2009, hoping to sell more tickets to students, reports Variety.

With the new release date, the science-fiction film starring Wynona Ryder, will have no significant competition except for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which will be released the week before. 

The releases of several projects will be changing as a result of the writers strike.  The summer comedy Tropic Thunder, starring Ben Stiller, was originally scheduled to be released on July 11, but has been delayed until August 15.
