Star Trek’s Scotty Dies

Canadian actor James Doohan, who played Montgomery Scott in the Star Trek series, died at the age of 85.

Doohan’s agent released a statement that revealed the actor was suffering from pneumonia and Alzheimer’s disease.  His wife of 28 years, Wende, was at his side until the last moments of his life.

Doohan was best known for his role on Star Trek from 1966 until 1969.  He starred in the legendary series along with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.

The three actors also had roles in the big-screen adaptations of the series.  In total, Doohan made seven films as the character "Scotty".

He received a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in October, 2004.
