Smith and Theron will reprise their roles of John Hancock and Mary Embrey in the next Hancock film.
Director Peter Berg confirmed the news during an interview with MTV. He hopes to bring back the whole team, including Jason Bateman, who is not yet confirmed for the project.
The original film was released in the summer of 2008. In the movie, Smith played an irresponsible superhero attempting to repair his image. Hancock earned more than $600 million at box offices worldwide.
For now, Hancock 2 is in the writing stage. The duo behind The Shield, Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara, are working on the new story.
