Stella McCartney launches line of kidswear

British designer and mother of three launches line of children’s clothing.

British designer Stella McCartney launched her collection of children’s clothes yesterday (November 3), Stella McCartney Kids, currently available on her website and at Stella McCartney stores, reports Coco Perez.

Having worked with Burberry, D & G and Dior, the designer decided to tackle her very first fashion collection for children, for winter 2010. A second-generation vegetarian, she supports PETA and does not use fur or leather in her designs.

“As a brand with many working parents in the team, I wanted to create a desirable, fun, wearable kids’ collection that was affordable. I feel like all the timeless children’s wear is reserved for the expensive brands and that did not sit well with me,” said McCartney. “Kids and parents, aunts, uncles, friends should all be able to have access to Stella McCartney Kids clothes. We have tried to make that possible in this first collection, and hope it is enjoyed!”

McCartney is expecting her fourth child soon. Married to publisher Alasdhair Willis, the couple are parents to Miller, 5 years, Bailey, 3, and Beckett, 2.
