Tom Shadyac will return as director, and Morgan Freeman is currently in discussions to return to his role as God. Steve Oedekerk wrote the screenplay.
Carrey will not return for the film, and neither will Jennifer Aniston, who originally played Carrey’s character’s love interest.
Universal Pictures is considering making a series of future Almighty films in which Freeman would play God.
