Steven Soderbergh To Make a Knockout Film

Steven Soderbergh has his sights set on the world of martial arts with the film Knockout.

The director will attack the world of martial arts with his next project, Knockout.

Gina Carino, the rising martial arts star, will be making her film debut with Soderbergh’s production, which is expected to land in the same category as Le Femme Nikita, Kill Bill and James Bond.

Lem Dobbs, who worked with Soderbergh on Kafka and The Limey, is tackling the screenplay, which follows a young woman who honed her fighting skills on the streets, and gets a chance to put her skills to better use.

Production is set to begin in February 2010 in Turkey, Ireland and the United States.

Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming film, The Informant!, starring Matt Damon, will hit theatres on September 18. The director will soon begin shooting the musical film Cleo, based on the life of Cleopatra, with Catherine Zeta-Jones in the title role.
