Stone Temple Pilots get it done

The group confirms it has finished recording its new album.

The Stone Temple Pilots have succeeded in putting the final touches on their new album. This is no small feat, given the troubled past of lead singer and frontman Scott Weiland.

Nothing could prevent the group from finishing this album, its first since Shangri-La-Dee-Da came out in 2001.

Weiland gave some interviews before watching Viva Elvis, the new Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas last Friday (February 19). He revealed, "[We] just finished mastering our new album. And we’ll be playing SXSW in March, with a few more dates. And then we go to Europe to play all the big festival in the early summer. [Then we’ll] come back with our own festival we’re putting together."

The new album, produced by Don Was and bassist Robert DeLeo, will be released in 2010.

Guitarist Dean DeLeo was asked whether his bandmate’s sobriety (Scott Weiland) played a role in this album getting done. He replied, "Sobriety? What the f**k are you talking about? Scott does what he does."
