Sugar increases the risk of heart disease

A high level of added sugar is harmful to your heart’s health.

Eating lots of added sugar will not only help you gain weight. A new study confirms it also increases the risk of heart disease.

In fact, it increases risk factors like cholesterol.

Products are becoming healthier due to recent pressure put on the food industry. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has already begun to regulate the consumption of sodium in products. New York and California have even brought in a special tax on sugary soft drinks.

Added sugar represents an average of 16% of daily calories consumed by Americans.

Sugar does not just pile on the pounds, it increases the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke, says the Journal of the American Medical Association. That is why it wants the population to reduce its consumption.

A woman should not consume more than 6 teaspoons of added sugar a day while men are advised not to consumer more than 9 teaspoons.
