Susan Boyle Captivates Canada

Scottish singer Susan Boyle has set a record for album sales in Canada.

The love story between the public and Susan Boyle continues to unfold, as the newcomer soars to new heights.

Boyle, 48, was discovered during an audition on England’s telereality show, Britain’s Got Talent.  Just last April, the world got a first glimpse of the woman who would soon manifest instant stardom.  Her first performance on the show was downloaded onto YouTube, and was viewed by more than 300 million people.  With the release of her debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, Boyle is still the star of the spotlight.

The album has set the new record for album pre-orders on Amazon.com, and has also become England’s bestselling album by a female artist upon its first week of release.

Boyle is also setting records on Canadian soil.  50 959 copies of I Dreamed A Dream were sold in Canada during the week of its debut.  According to Soundscan, that makes her the record holder for female artists in Canada.

Worldwide, the album has sold more than 3 million copies, which is miraculous given the current economic situation and changes in the music industry.
