Actress Susan Sarandon, 63, spoke of her ongoing sadness after break-up with actor Tim Robbins, 51, last December. After 23 years of marriage, Sarandon says in an interview in Stella magazine, she never expected it to happen.
The couple had two sons over the course of their relationship: Jack, 21, and Miles, 18. The actress also had a daughter, Eva Amurri, 25, from a previous marriage.
Sarandon has been surprised at how the separation has affected people. “People were coming up to me in the street and saying, ‘I cried and I cried when I heard.’ Well, I was sadder. I didn’t think it would ever happen either.”
In 1967 she had married fellow actor, Chris Sarandon, whom she divorced 12 years later. At that time, she swore she would never remarry more, believing that a union would be stronger without the ceremony. Now she is not sure about that belief.
“I thought that if you didn’t get married you wouldn’t take each other for granted as easily,” she explained. Despite her sadness, Sarandon believes her relationship with Tim Robbins has just run its course.
