Sweet dreams are made of cardio

Cardio workout helps you sleep more soundly.

Experts agree that a daily aerobics workout helps you sleep more soundly at night, and they’re not quite sure why, according to Reuters.

“The bottom line is we really don’t know why people tell us that exercise helps them sleep,” said David Davila of the U.S.-based National Sleep Foundation.

“But if people are normally active, reaching their aerobic goals, chances are they will sleep the right amount for what they need,” he added. But as the evidence suggests, aerobics can offer relief from insomnia.

A recent study by the University Northwest Chicago, Illinois, has tracked 23 previously sedentary individuals, mostly women aged 55 and older, who had difficulty sleeping. After a 16-week workout routine that included time on a treadmill or stationary bicycle, average sleep quality improved. So instead of counting sheep, you may be better off herding them around a mountainside.
