The Hollywood star revealed that he was injured while shooting fight scenes for his new film, The Expendables, reports BBC News.
The 63-year-old actor confirmed that the incident took place during a fight scene with "Stone Cold" Steve Austen, which was really intense. "I haven’t told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation. Man, it was seven guys, kicking each other’s ass, one guy tougher than the next," Stallone told NME magazine.
The injury forced doctors to implant a metal plate into the actor’s neck.
The Expendables follows a group of mercenaries whose mission is to overthrow a dictator in South America. The film will hit theatres in August. Also starring in the film will be Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham. Actress Brittany Murphy, who died suddenly last month of an apparent cardiac arrest, will be seen playing the love interest of Rourke’s character.
