Koodo, Fido, Virgin roll out another $65/20GB promo plan

Over the weekend, the Big Three flanker brands added new $65/20GB promotional plans after removing similar limited-time plans earlier this month.

Telus’ Koodo, Rogers’ Fido and Bell’s Virgin Plus now offer some form of a 20GB plan that costs $65/mo. Koodo and Virgin both just have a $65/20GB plan in place of the $65/15GB plan they had before. Fido, on the other hand, adjusted its $65/15GB plan to include a bonus 5GB of data, bringing the total monthly data up to 20GB. Interestingly, Fido’s website notes that the data bonus will be applied automatically and won’t show up until customer’s second or third invoice.

Moreover, both Koodo and Fido note that the $65/20GB plan is only available for a limited time, but neither displays an end date on their websites. Virgin Plus makes no specifications about its version of the plan.

Koodo also has its $60/mo 10GB plan listed as a promotional offer despite it being identical to the non-promotional $60/10GB plan it offered before.

Beyond that, there’s not much that’s special about these plans. They all include unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting, 4G data speeds, and other features like voicemail and call display (although some features vary from provider to provider).

If you missed out on the last $65/20GB offer from these providers, now’s your chance to take advantage.

Koodo, Fido, and Virgin Plus bring back $65/20GB plan, add new $60/15GB plan

Flanker brands Koodo, Fido, and Virgin Plus have brought back their $65/20GB plans after removing the options earlier this month.

As a quick recap, the three providers offered limited-time, promotional $65/mo plans with 20GB of data (the plans were actually $65/15GB with a 5GB bonus) back in mid-June. At the time, the three providers said the plans would stick around until July 4th — Koodo actually removed its plan a few days after the deadline.

Now those plans are back on the providers’ websites, although only Virgin Plus labelled the $65/20GB plan as a limited-time offer. Moreover, the plans list a full 20GB of data, not 15GB of data plus an additional 5GB like before. Instead, all three providers now offer a separate $60/mo plan with 15GB of data (again, only Virgin Plus lists that plan as a limited-time offer), which appears to replace a $60/10GB plan.

However, this is where the providers differ — Fido and Virgin don’t offer any other plans beyond their typical suite of CRTC-mandated starter plans. Koodo, however, lists several other plans on its website, including some that probably shouldn’t be there.

First, Koodo has a $55/mo 8GB promo plan. This isn’t new — it’s been around since mid-May. Then it appears Koodo still lists the old versions of its plans, $60/10GB and $65/15GB, alongside the new $60/15GB and $65/20GB plans. As per my testing, I’m able to add both new and old plans to my cart and navigate through the checkout process (although I didn’t complete any transactions since I’m not looking to switch at this time).

Presumably, this is just a glitch on Koodo’s website and it will de-list the old plans soon. Either way, if you’re shopping for a plan, make sure you’re picking the right plan, so you don’t end up paying more than you need to.

Koodo, Fido still offer $65/20GB promo plan slated to end July 4th

Back in mid-June, Koodo, Fido, and Virgin Plus rolled out a promotion that added 5GB of extra monthly data onto each provider’s respective $65/mo 15GB plan, bringing it up to 20GB of monthly data. At the time, all three providers listed the promo as running until July 4th, but only Bell’s Virgin Plus has held to that.

As of July 5th, Virgin Plus no longer lists the $65/20GB promo on its website — instead, it’s back to the $65/mo 15GB plan the provider previously offered.

Virgin Plus $65/15GB plan as of July 5th

Meanwhile, Rogers’ Fido and Telus’ Koodo have removed the July 4th end date from their $65/mo 20GB promotional plans. Both still list the plan as a “limited time offer,” but there’s no longer an end date. In other words, if you wanted to grab this plan and haven’t, now’s probably a good time to get it since it’s not clear how much longer it’ll be available.

Moreover, Koodo and Fido still offer $55/8GB plans, while Virgin Plus does not. These plans aren’t new, but Koodo has listed its $55/8GB option as a “promotion” since discounting it by $1 in May.

Anyway, if you’re looking to get a little extra data for your dollar, now might be the last good chance to get the $65/20GB promo before it’s gone.

Koodo, Fido, Virgin roll out $65/20GB limited-time offer

Koodo, Fido, and Virgin Plus have updated their plan pages with a new limited-time offer: $65/mo for 20GB of data.

The deal essentially adds 5GB of bonus data onto the flanker brands’ existing $65/15GB plans. Both Koodo and Virgin list the offer as running until July 4th, while Fido’s site simply says it’s a “limited time” deal. Interestingly, Fido’s website also says the offer “will appear on your 2nd or 3rd invoice.”

Overall, the new offer isn’t bad. The three flanker brands also offer $60/mo 10GB plans, so an extra $5/mo for double the data is pretty decent.

The $65/20GB plans include, as usual, Canada-wide calling, texting, and other features. You can check out the deal for yourself at the following links:

Also, if you’re a lucky Koodo customer, you may not even need to spring for this offer. Some customers received texts from the carrier in June offering them 5GB of free bonus data on their current plans. You can read more about that here.
