Wear the Xbox 360 on your feet with Xbox and Adidas’ new sneaker

Xbox and Adidas have unveiled the first of the companies’ 20th-anniversary sneaker collection. The shoe marks the very first Xbox-themed sneaker to release in North America.

The Xbox 360 Forum Mid features a myriad of tributes and easter eggs designed to celebrate the history of the Xbox. The kicks include the Xbox 360’s signature white, silver, and green colour scheme. Eagle-eyed fans will also notice the 360 disk tray decal on the shoe’s strap and references to the console’s removable hard drive and air vents on the heel.

The Forum Mids are laced white with four additional pairs of laces themed after the different colours of the face buttons on the 360’s controller.

The limited release will be available for purchase in both Canada and the U.S. on November 4th at 10pm ET/7pm PT on adidas.ca.

Also, as a part of the ‘Always Played In. Never Played Out’ initiative, Xbox faithful can check ‘In Queue.’ In Queue works like a virtual reveal experience to celebrate and aims to relive what Microsoft calls “the golden age of gaming: the launch of the Xbox 360.” The digital trip down memory lane can be seen at neverplayedout.net.

These shoes are the first of a larger partnership between Xbox and Adidas.

Xbox and Adidas partner to release 20 year anniversary sneakers

To commemorate Xbox’s 20th anniversary, the company has announced a collaboration with Adidas to create a new range of Xbox-inspired sneakers.

The footwear has the Xbox logo and transparent green accents similar to those found on the special edition Xbox console released with Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001.

Further, in Xbox’s blog post, sales and marketing manager, Xbox consumer products, James Monosmith, said that this is just the beginning of Xbox’s partnership with Adidas and “over the next few months we’ll continue to mark our 20th anniversary by launching additional sneakers inspired by past and present Xbox console generations, including the first-ever sneaker available for purchase by our fans later this year.”

The collaboration is part of a broader initiative that embraces skateboarding culture, which was popular when Microsoft introduced the original Xbox system in the early 2000s.

In 2019, Microsoft partnered with Axe to release the Xbox body wash, and earlier this year, PlayStation collaborated with Nike and Los Angeles Clippers’ Power Forward Paul George to release the PS5-inspired sneakers.

It seems like branching out of gaming is boding well for the two console giants.

Noel Gallagher gets his kicks from Adidas

Former Oasis member Noel Gallagher has not only launched his own solo musical project with new album Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, but is now branching out into fashion design, with his own limited edition shoe for Adidas, reports The Sun.

On October 22, only 120 pairs of the trainer will be available at a single storefront: the Adidas shop on Newburgh St. in London, U.K. Each pair will set you back about $130.

The footwear looks identical to the company’s classic Training ’72 shoe – in fact, they’re based upon that original design – made of plain white leather with three diagonal bars of color on either side, but the sport the musician’s initials on the heel, and an image of his face – in shiny gold ink – on the tongue.

"I’ve been buying Adidas trainers since I was a young dude," explained Gallagher. "To have my name put to a pair is truly mind-blowing."

The limited edition run is part of a deal Gallagher struck with the company when he agreed to take part in their Adidas Originals Star Wars ad a few years back. In exchange for his appearance, Gallagher was paid a hefty sum, but also requested two VIP tickets to the soccer World Cup Final and the opportunity to create his own running shoe.

Stella McCartney rises to Olympian challenge

Last year, it was announced that British fashion designer Stella McCartney had been chosen by her home country to design uniforms for both the British Olympic and Paralympic teams for the 2012 Olympic Games, reports Female First.

McCartney had been working on an activewear line with Adidas since 2004, so her collaboration with the company for Olympic uniforms was an extension of their ongoing partnership.

"As a British fashion designer it is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be creative director of Team GB as the hosting nation of the London 2012 Olympic Games," McCartney told the Telegraph.

However, the designer admits it was quite a challenge to design a uniform that combined performance and style.

In an interview with British Vogue, McCartney recently revealed she found the process of designing the performance wear incredibly challenging.

"I mean you’re working with athletes. The main thing I want to do is not in any way get involved with making their performance not its best. So for me I want to make them the best they can be.

"I’m obviously working with incredibly technical fabrics and dealing with silhouettes that I wouldn’t normally perhaps work with.

"So there are challenges – I have a million challenges. I have to make it look good on TV, I have to make it feel good for the athletes, I have to make it work – technically it has to do its job. But I think they’re all good challenges – I like a challenge."

Tomorrow (March 16), sporting goods company Adidas is launching a massive global advertising campaign, All Adidas, reports OregonLive.

The new campaign, which boasts the slogan "all in," will feature basketball player Derrick Rose, pop star Katy Perry and soccer star David Beckham, among others.

The idea of the campaign, designed by Canadian ad agency Sid Lee, is to bring together the various lines under the Adidas brand – Sport Performance, adidas Originals and adidas Sport – into one cohesive campaign, and it just happens to be the most expensive marketing push ever undertaken by the company. "This is a campaign that will show the breadth and depth of the Adidas brand," said Patrik Nilsson, president of Adidas America. "It means we’re in every sport… We are the only brand with strong connection with consumers across several different areas… People in Europe already know this. I’m not so sure people in America know this," explained Nilsson.

All Adidas includes 30- and 60-second television ads, which will air on North American broadcast and cable networks, including a spot during American Idol. Short teasers of the ads, which started airing on ESPN this weekend, are now available on YouTube.

A glowing Stella McCartney collection

According to Female First, Stella McCartney has designed Glow-In-The-Dark, a collection that.lights up at night, for Adidas.

The designer wants people who wear her pieces feel safe when they’re out running outside.

The young designer. who was recently announced as  the official designer of uniforms for the British Olympic team for the London Olympics in 2012, proposed this idea to Adidas, as a security advantage for joggers.

"When you’re running in an urban environment, you need to feel safe, when people can see you coming and stand out, especially in winter when it gets dark earlier. But at the same time we used it on a leopard print, so it’s not so masculine and graphic."

In addition to the  Glow-in-the-dark collection, she has also created the Stella McCartney Wintersports line for Adidas as well. The designer has ensured that these garments, made especially for skiers, are comfortable yet very stylish.
