Prime trial membership gives you access to all deals on Prime Day

Prime Day is inching closer. The event starts on Tuesday, July 12th and will run until Wednesday, July 13th, with smart home gadgets, headphones and peripherals to wearables, robot vacuums, laptops and several either electronics on sale.

If you want to take part in the online retailer’s massive annual sale, you’ll need a Prime membership. A regular Prime membership costs $9.99/month, or $99/year, whereas the student membership costs $4.99/month, or $49/year.

If you aren’t already subscribed to Prime, signing up for a trial membership would give you all the benefits that a paying member would get, allowing you to get the best deals on the 12th and 13th. Former members can also claim a trial membership if they haven’t been a Prime subscriber in the past twelve months.

Further, active students in a Canadian college or university can get a free six-month Amazon Prime Student trial, provided that you have a valid education email address.

It’s worth noting that all free trials will automatically convert to regular paid memberships at the end of the trial. However, you have the option to cancel the membership before the renewal date to avoid being charged by going into the “Manage My Membership” tab.

Amazon to hold a second Prime Day in the fourth quarter of 2022

Amazon recently confirmed that Prime Day will take place on July 12th in Canada. Now, according to a report from CNBC News, Amazon will hold a second Prime Day in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The information comes via a notice that was viewed by CNBC that suggests that the company is planning to hold a “Prime Fall deal event” in the fourth quarter, making 2022 the only year where Amazon holds two shopping events exclusively for Prime members.

The report also suggests that Amazon has already started notifying third-party sellers about the reportedly upcoming event through its ‘Sellar Central’ portal, asking them to send in their “lightning deals” for the event by July 22nd. “The Prime Fall deal event is a prime-exclusive shopping event coming in Q4,” reads the notice procured by CNBC. “Submit recommended Lightning Deals for this event for a chance to have your deal selected!”

Amazon had delayed Prime Day in Canada in 2020, and outright cancelled it in 2021, though it seems like users would get not one, but two chances to grab their favourite tech gear at a majorly discounted price later next month and again in fall.

It’s worth noting that the report doesn’t explicitly mention that the event will take place in Canada as well, though considering that the last two Prime Days were delayed and cancelled in Canada, it would be prudent for Amazon to offer the event to shoppers North of their border.

We will have more information about the reportedly upcoming event if Amazon confirms it in the near future.

Amazon Prime Day 2022 will take place in July in Canada

Prime Day is scheduled for some time in July in Canada this year, as revealed in Amazon’s first-quarter financial results.

“This year, Prime Day will take place in July in more than 20 countries. During Amazon’s annual shopping event, Prime members will be able to save on products from national brands and small businesses across every category,” reads the report.

Amazon had delayed Prime Day in Canada in 2020, and outright cancelled it in 2021, though Canadians will get a chance to grab their favourite tech gear at a majorly discounted price later this summer.

It’s worth noting that Amazon increased the Prime subscription cost in Canada earlier this month. The regular Prime membership now costs $2 more monthly, coming in at $9.99/mo or $20 more annually ($99/year).

Similarly, the cost of Prime Students has also been increased from $3.99/mo to $4.99/mo.

Like always, the event is expected to span two days (48 hours), so make sure you have your subscription ready around the end of July. Additionally, if you don’t want a long term commitment, Prime’s one-month free trial should get you through the two-day event.
