Anker has issued a recall for its 535 Power Banks after a defect was discovered that could result in the device overheating, which could potentially cause a fire. The notice indicates that a small amount of Anker 535 Power Bank (PowerCore 20K) batteries, model A1366 are affected.

Anker says it is working closely with local government agencies to ensure a safe recall process. The company urges all customers with the Anker 535 Power Bank A1366 to follow the steps.

If you own the device, stop using it, store it in a safe location, don’t throw it in the trash, and dispose of it at a facility that accepts Lithium batteries.

Anker 757 Powerhouse offers 1,500W of power as the company’s largest battery pack

Anker has revealed its largest battery pack to date. The Anker 757 Powerhouse weighs 43 pounds (19.5 kg) and offers 1,500W to charge and power an assortment of devices, appliances, and more.

The Anker 757 Powerhouse is described by the company as the “longest-lasting portable power station.” When taking a look at its specs, it’s easy to see how it came to that conclusion. Alongside its 1,500W of power, the 757 Powerhouse has 1,229Wh of capacity. Putting it into relative terms, the 757 Powerhouse can charge a smartphone 97 times on a charge. Alternatively, it can power a portable fridge for up to 22 hours. This is thanks to its Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery.

LiFePO4 supports faster charging and is a safer alternative to standard lithium-ion battery packs currently available. With its HyperFlash technology, Anker claims the 757 Powerhouse can recharge to 80 percent in one hour. Anker states that competitive brands take nearly five and a half hours for the same results.

In terms of its ports, the 757 Powerhouse supports four USB-A ports at 12W each. It also features a trio of three-prong outlets alongside its three two-prong outlets. A USB-C port can also be found as well as a car lighter socket.

However, despite its advantages, the 757 Powerhouse has one distinct disadvantage and that is its size. This beefy unit comes in at 43.8 pounds (19.9 kg) and is considerably larger than its other Powerhouse units.

According to Anker, the 757 offers 3,000 battery cycles and 50,000 hours of electronic life expectancy. The company also includes a 5-year warranty with the purchase of the battery pack. For comparison, many competitors offer a two-year standard warranty.

In terms of pricing, the Anker 757 Powerhouse battery pack is available for $1,399 USD (roughly $1,771 CAD.)

Anker reveals company’s first 3D printer, the AnkerMake M5

Anker has announced plans to create a 3D printer. The company is best known for its chargers, power banks, and other battery supply units. Now, the accessory maker is exploring new territory.

The AnkerMake M5 is the company’s very first 3D printer. Announced via a Kickstarter campaign, Anker says the printer features a base-level print speed of 250 mm/s with 0.1 mm precision. However, that speed can be increased up to 2,500 mm/s thanks to its PowerBoost settings.

Anker claims that the AnkerMake M5 can reduce average print times by up to 70 percent when compared to equivalent 3D printers. Though, the PowerBoost setting may result in a less polished product.

The Kickstarter page also delves into the printer’s use of video and AI. The M5 features an integrated 1080p HD intelligent camera with support of up to 30FPS. Anker claims the camera monitors the printing process continually thanks to its XBurst CPU and has an error detection system. Users can watch the printing process live from their mobile devices. Timelapse videos can also be captured via the camera.

The M5 is supposedly an easy-to-use 3D printer. The page suggests that the setup process takes a mere 15 minutes before the first printing project. When compared to other consumer-level printers, the M5 could be an entry-level product.

Anker set an initial goal of $62,503 with the hopes of raising the funds over the next 44 days. As of the time of writing, the AnkerMake M5 has well over 1,000 backers and has raised over $900,000. Those who back the project are able to get early-bird $429 USD pricing on the printer. Typical pricing for the M5 will land at $499 USD to purchase a unit.

As for release info, Anker has set an estimated delivery window of November 2022 to “certain countries.”
