How to stream Apple’s ‘Far Out’ event

Apple’s long-awaited iPhone 14 ‘Far Out’ Fall Hardware Event is scheduled to kick off later today at 1pm ET/10am PT.

Like this year’s WWDC, ‘Far Out’ will be a hybrid event, available for anyone to stream online, alongside a small, invite-only in-person event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

The event will be absolutely free to tune into and led by Apple CEO Tim Cook, followed by other Apple executives.

From what we know so far, Apple will unveil the iPhone 14 series at the event, followed by a new Apple Watch Pro, Apple Watch 8 and a cheaper Apple Watch SE. Additionally, rumours point to Apple revealing the long-awaited second-gen AirPods Pro.

And while we already know that iPadOS 16 has been delayed to October, Apple will also likely reveal when users will be able to get their hands on the public build of iOS16, macOS Ventura and tvOS 16.

A detailed breakdown of what to expect from Apple’s event can be found here.

Regardless, you can find out what Apple has up its sleeve for yourself later today at 1pm ET. You can stream the event directly from the video embedded above, or navigate to Apple’s website or its YouTube channel to catch the keynote.

You can keep an eye on the MobileSyrup home pageTwitter and/or Facebook for all the latest news from the event, while Apple’s Twitter page will also likely tweet announcements as they happen.

Apple might have plans for a new, cheaper Apple Watch

It’s a morning of Apple leaks.

Apple could have plans to reveal a smartwatch “cheaper than the Apple Watch SE,” according to a report from the New York Times. The publication says that this new wearable is part of the tech giant’s effort to “compete more aggressively for young smartwatch customers” and describes it as a “stopgap cellphone for kids.”

The cheaper take on the SE will reportedly be closely tied to its ‘Family Setup’ feature that allows users without an iPhone to use a cellular-connected Apple Watch, offering access to phone calls, apps, messaging and more directly from the wearable.

Given the Apple Watch SE starts at $362 for the 40mm version, it’s likely that this new, cheaper version of the smartwatch will start in the $300 range. While the Apple Watch SE is a very capable wearable, it lacks the always-on display featured in the more expensive Series 5, Series 6 and Series 7, a great feature that I’ve found very useful over the past few years.

At its September 7th keynote, Apple is expected to reveal its iPhone 14 series and a new high-end Apple Watch Pro. For everything to expect from Apple’s upcoming fall hardware presentation, follow this link.

Apple Watch Pro to feature exclusive Bands and Watch Faces

Following recent CAD-based renders that offer the best look at the Apple Watch Pro we’ve seen yet, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that Apple’s upcoming high-end wearable will feature exclusive watch Bands and Faces.

In a recent tweet, Gurman says that the new Bands will “play into the extreme sports theme” and hints that the wearable will likely have a line of straps made exclusively for it. It’s unclear if Apple plans to partner with another company for these bands, as it does with its Nike and Hermès straps.

Last week, Gurman mentioned that while old Apple Watch Bands will still work with the Apple Watch Pro, they won’t fit perfectly.

The Apple Watch Pro is expected to feature a 47mm case, a flat 1.99-inch display and a new “programmable” side button. The smartwatch’s digital crown also seems larger than the Series 7’s.

Apple will also likely launch a new Apple Watch SE and the Apple Watch Series 8 at its upcoming September 7th keynote. For everything we expect to see at the event, follow this link.

Apple’s upcoming Watch Pro could feature a 2-inch display

Apple’s Fall Hardware Event is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, September 7th, and new rumours and leaks are showcasing how much bigger the upcoming Apple Watch Pro is expected to be when compared to the regular Series 7/8 models.

Images of the upcoming Watch’s protective casing, as shared by leaker Sony Dickson, via MacRumours, indicate that the Watch Pro model will come in a 49mm case size, while the regular Series 8 models will be available in 45mm and 41mm variants, the same as the Apple Watch Series 7 lineup.

Previous leaks have indicated that the new Apple Watch Pro will feature a large 1.99-inch flat display screen, making it the biggest Apple Watch display yet. Considering the images shared by Dickson, it could very well be that Apple goes for a display even bigger than 1.99-inches, though we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Additionally, Dickson’s case images also indicate the inclusion of an extra physical button on the left side of the Watch Pro alongside a cutout for the speaker vent. It is currently unclear what purpose the new button will fulfill.

The regular Apple Watch Series 8 models are expected to be identical to the Series 7 lineup, with the 41mm model featuring a 1.69-inch display, and the 45mm model sporting a 1.9-inch display.

From what we know so far, the upcoming wearable might offer satellite connectivity, run on a new S8 chip and feature a body temperature sensor. Additionally, the new watch line is expected to feature larger batteries than the Series 7, alongside a titanium casing. In other Apple Watch Pro news, rumours point to the wearable offering exclusive Watch Bands and Faces.

A detailed breakdown of what to expect from Apple’s event can be found here. You can keep an eye on the MobileSyrup home page, Twitter and/or Facebook for all the latest news from the event.

Apple Watch Pro CAD renders show new flat design as well as additional buttons

Leaked CAD images of an unannounced Apple Watch Pro have been circulating online. The renders give us a fairly good look at the device ahead of an expected reveal this week during Apple’s September event.

The CAD images in question show off the Apple Watch Pro, a higher-end wearable from the company. Looking back to recent reports, the images align with what’s expected. The CAD images highlight a supposed new flat design. The “rugged” new device is also shown to have an additional button.

The new physical button is shown to be located opposite the digital crown. The digital crown itself is also shown to be a bit larger and more tactile. Above this new inclusion are three small holes, which are likely to be the Apple Watch Pro’s speakers.

The display itself appears to be completely flat with more defined edges running across each side of the device. Prior reports indicate that the device may be available in a larger 47mm case size. Though, the renders show no indication of size.

Apple Watch Pro is said to be more focused on providing use case benefits during athletic activities and sports. The rugged design should offer more durability via a titanium casing and the additional button could assist in use while active. Additional features expected are a longer battery life and Low Power Mode, all powered by an S8 chip.

The device could likely run at a premium as analysts expect the Apple Watch Pro to be sold for around $900 USD (approximately $1,138 CAD). We should know more this week during Apple’s event on Wednesday, September 7th.

Everything we expect to see at Apple’s fall 2022 event

It’s almost that time of year again.

On September 7th at 1pm ET/10am PT, Apple will hold its ‘Far Out’ keynote at its Cupertino, California campus. While the presentation will feature pre-recorded sections, it’s also the first Apple event with live portions in years.

As always, we have a pretty good idea of what we might see at this year’s fall keynote, including the iPhone 14/iPhone 14 Pro, 2nd-gen AirPods Pro and several new Apple Watches, including the redesigned Apple Watch Pro.

Let’s get into it.

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro

Rumours have been swirling about Apple’s iPhone 14 line for months now. First off, the iPhone mini line is being killed off this year in favour of the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, which will be sold alongside the 6.1-inch iPhone 14.

Apple’s iPhone 14 devices are expected to look very similar to last year, including the visible notch and even the same A15 chip. According to reports, only Apple’s higher-end iPhone 14 Pro models will offer the tech giant’s new A16 processor.

The iPhone 14 will also likely be available in various colours.

On the other hand, Apple’s 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max are set to feature more notable upgrades. According to Bloomberg’s often-reliable Mark Gurman, alongside a new A16 chip, Apple’s ‘Pro’ iPhones will ditch the front-facing notch for a pill-shaped camera cutout that houses a 48-megapixel wide shooter capable of capturing 8K video, alongside a circular Face ID sensor.

Some reports indicate Apple plans to fill the display space between the pill-shaped cutout and the circular sensor through software, which, if true, is the most Apple move of all time.

Other rumoured iPhone 14 features include stronger magnets that power exclusive MagSafe accessories that only work with iPhone 14 devices, and emergency calling satellite connectivity.

Apple Watch Pro, Series 8 and SE 2

Next, there’s the slew of new smartwatches that could appear at Apple’s upcoming event.

First off, there’s the Apple Watch Pro, a new high-end, Garmin-like take on the Apple Watch. The more durable version of Apple’s smartwatch is rumoured to feature a flat display and a 1.99-inch screen, making it the largest Apple Watch yet.

Other Apple Watch Pro rumours include that the wearable could offer satellite connectivity, though most reports point to this functionality coming to the high-end smartwatch next year. And finally, there’s a possibility that the Apple Watch Pro might not fit seamlessly with older Watch Bands, marking the first time since the wearable’s launch that older straps won’t work with a new Apple Watch.

Other rumoured Apple Watch Pro features include a new S8 chip and a body temperature sensor, which should also be coming to the Series 8 if rumours are accurate. Overall, the Apple Watch Series 8 is tipped to look and function like the Series 7, with most of the upgrades being on the hardware side.

Finally, there’s the Apple Watch SE 2. Rumours regarding Apple’s entry-level wearable are pretty sparse, but there’s a possibility it could be upgraded with an always-on display and a newer chip since the current version of the smartwatch still features an S5 processor.

2nd-gen AirPods Pro

Like the Apple Watch SE 2, rumours surrounding the 2nd-gen AirPods Pro are few and far between. It’s believed that Apple’s new high-end wireless earbuds will feature shorter stems, upgraded mics, improved sound quality and better battery life.

Some reports highlight a new charging case with USB-C charging and lossless audio support. While we haven’t seen many leaks regarding new AirPods Pro, given the wireless earbuds released back in 2019, they’re arguably long overdue for an upgrade.

iPads, iPad Pro/M2 MacBook Pro, new HomePod and AR headset

Most rumours point to Apple once again holding several keynotes this coming fall, with September 7th’s event focused on the iPhone 14, Apple Watch Pro and the AirPods Pro.

A second event set for October will likely focus on the M2-powered iPad Pro and a new HomePod, followed by a third presentation in November aimed at Apple’s M2 chip and the MacBook Pro. There’s also a possibility we might finally catch a glimpse of the company’s AR/VR headset given most rumours point to it releasing in 2023.

Apple Watch Series 8 could feature new shade of red

The rumoured Apple Watch Series 8 could feature a new shade of red, according to ShrimpApplePro (for the record, this is my new favourite Apple leak account).

Earlier this month, the same account also tweeted that the Series 8 will be available in aluminum in ‘Starlight,’ ‘Midnight,’ ‘Product Red’ and ‘Silver.’ Further, ShrimpApplePro said the stainless steel version will be available in ‘Silver,’ ‘Graphite’ and ‘Gold,’ and there won’t be a titanium model of the wearable.

The leaker goes on to say that the Apple Watch Series 8 will be available in 41mm and 45mm models, similar to the Series 7. Interestingly, ShrimpApplePro also mentions that Apple will add more glue under the Series 8 box pull tab to more clearly indicate when it has been opened. Finally, they also say that the Series 8’s box will still feature a Watch Band and a USB-C-to-MagSafe charger for the wearable.

Alongside the Series 8, Apple is expected to reveal a new rugged Apple Watch Pro that features a redesigned flat display, a larger 2-inch screen and a new S8 chip. Both the Series 8 and the Apple Watch Pro are also expected to feature a new body temperature sensor. Some rumours indicate Apple will also refresh its entry-level Apple Watch SE, though it remains unclear what will be added to the smartwatch.

Apple is expected to reveal its Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Pro, Apple Watch SE, iPhone 14 series and new AirPods at its upcoming ‘Far Out’ keynote on September 7th.

Apple Watch Pro might not work with older Apple Watch straps

The Apple Watch backwards compatibility Watch Band dream could soon be over.

As first reported by MacRumors, leaker UnclePan says Apple’s rumoured rugged smartwatch might not work with current Watch Bands.

Though the Apple Watch’s size has changed over the years, Bands have always still fit the smartwatch. For example, the Series 3’s 38mm and 42mm size fits the Series 4’s 40mm and 44mm Watch Band and vice versa. Even the Series 7’s 45mm bands still work with earlier versions of the wearable.

With recent rumours pointing at the Apple Watch Pro featuring a roughly 2-inch display in a 47mm case size, Apple’s 38mm/42mm/40mm/44mm Watch Bands might not work well with the much larger wearable. On the other hand, the Series 7’s bigger 45mm strap could fit more seamlessly with the Watch Pro, given it’s slightly larger.

However, Mark Gurman says older Watch Bands will likely still work with the Apple Watch Pro, although they “won’t fit as well or look as seamless.”

Rumoured Apple Watch Pro features include longer battery life, satellite connectivity, a titanium casing, an S8 chip and an entirely new design that features flatter edges.

Of course, it’s worth approaching these recent Apple Watch Pro rumours with a heavy dose of skepticism since the Apple Watch Series 7 was supposed to feature a full redesign but ended up looking very similar to the Series 6.

Apple will likely reveal its Apple Watch Pro at its upcoming fall hardware event on September 7th.
