Amazon lists unreleased Beats Studio Buds+, reveals transparent colour

It seems Apple’s upcoming Beats Studio Buds+ will take a cue from Nothing’s earbuds and offer a transparent design.

The rumoured Studio Buds+ made a brief appearance on Amazon, though the listing has since been removed (you can still find it on the Wayback Machine). Along with the transparent colour, there will be ‘Black’ and ‘Ivory’ colour options. However, the overall design looks largely unchanged from the original Studio Buds.

Beyond the colour options, the listing revealed some other details. The Studio Buds+ will offer a “custom acoustic platform” for rich, immersive sound, have active noise-cancelling (ANC) and transparency modes, 36 hours of listening time and one-touch pairing.

The listing notes that the Studio Buds+ come with four pairs of silicon tips, offer ‘Class 1’ Bluetooth and have three larger voice-targeting mics to better filter background noise. The Buds Studio+ support spatial audio and are IPX4 rated for water and sweat resistance.

Moreover, the listing includes a May 18th release date, suggesting the Studio Buds+ are right around the corner. The listed price is $169.99 (or $169.95 for the transparent option).

Beats reveals new neutral-coloured Fit Pro designed in collaboration with Kim Kardashian

Beats, in collaboration with “multi-hyphenated” entrepreneur and reality star Kim Kardashian, has announced that the Beats Fit Pro are available in three neutral colours: ‘Moon,’ ‘Dune’ and ‘Earth.’

A press release from Beats describes the new wireless earbud colours as ‘light,’ ‘medium’ and ‘deep.’ The concept behind the new colour line is wireless earbuds that better blend in with the wearer by creating a “monochromatic or contrasted look.”

As someone who generally isn’t fond of bright-coloured wearable tech (especially earbuds/headphones), this line definitely appeals to me, especially given most wireless earbuds and headphones are available in either white or some sort of a stark colour.

“I wanted to break away from the idea that headphones have to be colourful to make a statement,” said Kim Kardashian. “This collaboration is special because it allows you to blend in or stand out, and Beats is known for creating products that showcase individuality.”

Beats Fit Pro features active noise cancellation, transparent, adaptive EQ modes, spatial audio, dynamic head tracking and most importantly, Apple’s proprietary H1 chip. They also feature a wing tip to help secure them in your ears, unlike Apple’s AirPods.

All three Beats Fit Pro colours release on August 16th at 10/am ET/7am PT for $249. For more on Beats’ Fit Pro, check out Brad Bennett’s wireless earbuds review.

How to share audio from one iPhone to multiple headphones/earbuds

If you live in Apple’s ecosystem, there’s a cool trick that allows you to listen to music or watch content easily with a friend. Apple calls this feature ‘Audio Sharing,’ and the only downside is it works with compatible AirPod and Beats earbuds and headphones.

Compatible headphones/earbuds

  • AirPods Max
  • AirPods Pro
  • AirPods (all models)
  • Powerbeats
  • Solo Pros
  • Powerbeats3 Wireless
  • Beats Solo3 Wireless
  • BeatsX
  • Beats Flex
  • Beats Fit Pro

Notably, the only earbuds that are not on this list are the more low-end Beats Studio Buds that don’t feature an Apple H1 chip.

You’ll also need an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with iOS 13.1 or later. Since most people should already be on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 or newer, this shouldn’t be much of a problem.

How to use Audio sharing

When you’re watching/listening to content, open the AirPlay controls. If you’re already using a compatible pair of headphones, there’s a small button that says ‘Share Audio.’

Tapping on this button brings up an interface that tells you to bring the other headphones, or the device they’re connected to close to the iPhone/iPad that’s playing the content.

In my testing, I started with AirPods Max connected to my iPhone. Then I opened the AirPlay controls on the YouTube video I was watching, tapped on ‘share audio’ and took the AirPods out of their case. Once I brought them within a few inches of my iPhone, they automatically connected.

What’s useful is once you’re connected, you can control the volume for each set of headphones independently.

To stop sharing, open up the AirPlay menu again and deselect the small checkmark beside the name of the headphones. If you’ve used AirPlay 2 before to group speakers in your home, this works the same.

AirPlay tips

AirPlay can be a little confusing if you’ve never used it before, but it’s simply branding for the Apple feature that will stream audio/video content from one device to another.

Most apps that play video or music have an AirPlay button stuck somewhere noticeable if you’re on an Apple device. However, some apps will bury the button behind their own casting tech (looking at you Google).

The most straightforward place to access AirPlay is through ‘Control Centre’ since it’s always the same there. On most iPhones/iPads, you access this by swiping down from the top right-hand corner. On older devices like iPhones with a Home Button, you need to swipe up from the bottom.

The AirPlay controls are in the top right of the ‘Now Playing’ interface. If you have compatible speakers, you can also use this menu to play multi-room audio in your home.

Apple’s Beats Fit Pro release in Canada on January 24 for $249

After releasing in the U.S. back in November, Apple-owned Beats will bring its Fit Pro wireless earbuds to Canada on January 24th for $249.

The wireless earbuds feature 27-hours of charging with their case, active noise cancellation, a transparency mode, adaptive EQ, Apple’s H1 chip and Spatial Audio with head-tracking support. The Fit Pro seem designed to fall above the Studio Buds and possibly replace Beat’s more expensive Powerbeats Pro in the headphone/earbud company’s lineup of products.

Along with the above features, the Beats Fit Pro feature a built-in flexible wingtip designed to keep the wireless earbuds secure when they’re in your ears.

The sporty wireless earbuds have generally received positive coverage from most U.S. tech publications, with reviewers stating that the Fit Pros are comfortable and offer excellent noise cancellation. On the other hand, they lack wireless charging and don’t work as well with Android devices as Beats’ Studio Buds.

The Beats Fit Pro are available in ‘Black,’ ‘White,’ ‘Gray’ and ‘Purple/Pink.’ The Beats Fit Pro release in Canada on January 24th for $249.

Apple-owned Beats discontinues its Powerbeats, Solo Pro and Beats EP

At the same time it announced its new Fit Pro earbuds, Apple-owned Beats also cut back its product lineup considerably.

As first reported by MacRumors, Beats has discontinued its Powerbeats, Solo Pro and its Beats EP earbuds/headphones. The three pairs of headphones are no longer available from Apple but you can likely find them in stock at 3rd-party retailers — at least for now.

It’s unclear why Beats killed off these products, but it likely has something to do with low sales. That said, the Beats Solo Pro reviewed quite well and feature excellent noise cancellation.

Beats still sells its long-running Solo 3 and Studio 3 over-ear headphones, however. On the earbud side, Beats’ lineup includes the Powerbeats Pro, the Beats Flex, the Beats Studio Buds and the Beats Fit Pro. Of course, the company formerly owned by Dr. Dre also still sells its Beats Pill+ wireless Bluetooth speaker

It’s unclear when or if Beats plans to bring its recently revealed Fit Pro wireless earbuds to Canada.

Beats reveals new Fit Pro wireless earbuds with flexible wing tip design

In a surprise move, Apple-owned Beats has announced a new pair of wireless earbuds, the $199 USD (about $245 CAD) Beats Fit Pro.

The Fit Pro seems designed to fall between the Studio Buds and the headphone company’s more expensive Powerbeats Pro and Powerbeats. As it stands right now, it’s unclear if the Beats Fit Pro will release in Canada.

The wireless earbuds aren’t currently listed on Apple’s or Beats’ Canadian website, and a U.S.-focused press release only states that they’re coming to the U.S. on November 5th. MobileSyrup has reached out to Apple for more information.

That said, like most Beats products, the Beats Fit Pro will likely make their way north of the U.S. border in a few weeks. The wireless earbuds feature built-in flexible wingtips designed to keep them securely planted in your ears while exercising.

It’s worth noting that the Fit Pro also include Apple’s H1 chip, allowing them to offer one-step pairing and switching between Apple devices. Other features include Spatial Audio, the same skin sensor included in Apple’s 3rd-gen AirPods and noise-cancellation. Beats’ Studio Buds, on the other hand, don’t feature Apple’s H1 chip.

The Beats Fit Pro are available in ‘Black,’ ‘White,’ ‘Gray’ and ‘Purple/Pink’ with U.S. pre-orders being available now and shipping on November 5th.

Apple giving away Apple Music 6-month trial with AirPods and Beats purchase

If you’ve been holding off for a decent deal before upgrading your Apple AirPods or Beats headphones, now might be the moment you’ve been waiting for. Apple is currently offering six months free of Apple Music with the purchase of several different AirPods models or Beats headphones/earbuds.

According to Apple, the AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, Beats Studio Buds, Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro and Beats Solo Pro, all qualify for the deal.

It’s important to point out that this offer is only available to “new subscribers with an eligible device for a limited time only,” according to the fine print on Apple’s website. Unfortunately, this means that if you’re already a current or past Apple Music subscriber, you won’t be able to add an additional six months to your subscription.

Apple also says that you need to be running iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 on your iPhone or iPad, and redeem the offer within 90 days.

As far as free Apple Music promos go, this one is pretty sweet. It’s just unfortunate that current subscribers don’t qualify for the offer.

Dr. Dre buys Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady’s mansion for $40m

Dr. Dre has reportedly bought Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady’s Los Angeles mansion for $40 million.

The rapper and producer has had his eye on the impressive custom-built home in Brentwood for a few months now and finally signed the paperwork yesterday (06.04.14) to become the new homeowner.

According to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, Dr. Dre, 49, managed to secure the property for $10 million less than what the couple had originally listed it for.

The 14,000-square-foot property will suit the rapper down to the ground as it boasts six bedrooms, a fully-equipped gym, library, infinity pool and even a moat and waterfall.

Meanwhile, Gisele and Tom have reportedly forked out $40 million over the space of four years to build their dream home, but plan to relocate to Boston permanently, where they’re busy constructing yet another massive 14,300 square-foot mansion over five-acres of land.

The supermodel and NFL star – who have a four-year-old son, Benjamin, together – also recently splashed out on a $14million apartment in New York City.
