Katherine Jackson resigns as Blanket Jackson’s legal guardian

Katherine Jackson has filed to resign as Blanket Jackson’s legal guardian.

The 87-year-old matriarch of the Jackson family has formally started the process of resigning as the co-guardian of the 15-year-old son of her late offspring, pop icon Michael Jackson.

As a result, T.J. Jackson – the youngest son of Katherine’s son Tito – who previously served as co-guardian to the teenager, will eventually become his sole guardian.

The duo also previously served as the co-guardians for Michael’s two eldest children, 20-year-old son Prince and 19-year-old daughter Paris.

Paperwork filed at Los Angeles County Superior Court reads: "Katherine is no longer needed to fulfill the duties that were necessary when joint-guardians were appointed on September 14, 2012.

"Given her own age and the fact that [Blanket] is now 15 years old, Katherine feels that T.J. is able to assume all necessary responsibilities the guardianship. (sic)"

Following Michael’s death from acute propofol intoxication in June 2009, Katherine became the guardian to his three children.

However, T.J. was appointed co-guardian in 2012 and earlier this year, Prince revealed his cousin has been a huge source of strength in his life.

Prince – whose mother Debbie Rowe also had Paris with the musician – explained: "When my dad died, the thought of being in the foster system crossed my mind, but I was fortunate to have an incredible grandmother and cousin, T.J., to fall back on."

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Blanket – whose full name is Prince Michael Jackson II – had "the most problems" coping with his father’s death.

Although all of Michael’s children were deeply affected by their father’s sudden death in 2009, it was his youngest son – who was seven at the time of the pop star’s passing – who found it most difficult to come to terms with.

A source close to the family recently said: "[Blanket] has had the most problems adjusting after Michael died. He acted very lost and extremely upset."

Paris Jackson wants to use her fame for good

Paris Jackson wanted to embrace fame to help "the masses".

The 19-year-old actress – the daughter of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson – revealed that while she harbored dreams of being a psychiatric nurse or psychologist, she decided she should work in the entertainment business so she could use her profile to push the beliefs and issues that are important to her.

Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, she said: "I originally wanted to just kind of stay out of the spotlight and become a psychologist or a nurse at a psychiatric ward. I realized it would be a shame to waste the platform I was given. Having the ability to go into the acting and fashion world, I just figured why not use that to make my platform bigger. That way, instead of helping the world one by one with patients, I could help the masses."

Paris accepts that a byproduct of fame is a loss of privacy but she is confident that she can navigate any potential pitfalls by following her personal mantra.

She said: "The best advice I’ve been given is to be strategic in the mind, young at heart, and wise in the soul. If you have those three things you can navigate pretty easily any path that you’re on."

Paris’ older brother, 20-year-old brother Prince, wants to make a career as a music video producer and has also launched the Heal Los Angeles charity – which is inspired by Michael 1992’s song and life-long aim to improve the lives of disadvantaged children – with the goal to help kids from impoverished backgrounds or who have been victims of abuse in the American city.

Paris younger brother Blanket, meanwhile, has been tipped for pop success like dad Michael by his uncles Tito and Jermaine.

Michael died in June 2009 aged 50.

Paris Jackson worried brother Blanket is living alone

Paris Jackson is reportedly deeply worried about her brother Blanket’s living arrangements.

The 19-year-old aspiring actress is said to be upset with her late father Michael Jackson’s sister Rebbie, as Paris feels she is trying to stop the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s brood – also including 20-year-old Prince – from seeing their grandmother Katherine Jackson, TMZ is reporting.

The 86-year-old matriarch is staying at Rebbie’s leaving Blanket practically alone at his grandparent’s Calabasas property.

Katherine has been away from her home for months having been in London for two months in January before returning to Los Angeles.

This has sparked concern in Paris as Michael’s choice of guardians in Katherine and 38-year-old cousin Tito Jackson are not looking after Blanket.

According to the website, TJ Jackson and his spouse Frances Casey are said to be sharing the role as supervisory guardians of the teenager and check up on how he’s getting on at his grandmother’s, but Paris doesn’t think they are doing enough.

Another worry of Paris’ is that Katherine hasn’t been communicating with herself, Prince, Blanket or TJ since she went to stay in the UK capital and she is blaming Michael’s siblings including Rebbie and Randy of trying to temper with their relationship with Katherine as according to sources, they are trying to get their hands on Katherine’s fortune.

Despite Paris feeling distressed by the parental care of Blanket, the youngster is said to be doing well at school.

Katherine was living in London briefly after being granted a restraining order against nephew-in-law Trent Lamar Jackson.

In February, Katherine was granted a temporary order against Trent after alleging he had abused her and that he had neglected her health.

She said in her filing to the court: "I believe he has put cameras and bugs in my home, so the only place I can try and have a private conversation is in my bathroom."

Trent, 52, has been living in the guest house of Katherine’s Calabasas, California, home after previously serving as her personal driver for a number of years.

However, their relationship has soured in recent times, with Katherine accusing him of bullying her and monitoring her behavior.

Meanwhile, Trent – who is the son of Joe Jackson’s half-brother – has tried to have the temporary restraining order lifted, with his lawyer insisting he is not a threat to Katherine.

Boy George: My ‘big sorrow’ was not meeting Michael Jackson

Boy George says one of his "big sorrows" was not meeting Michael Jackson.

The 55-year-old singer has opened up about the time he met Paris Jackson – the daughter of the late King of Pop – during Paris Fashion Week but admits he regrets not having the chance to meet the iconic musician himself before his untimely death in 2009.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ on Tuesday (01.24.17), he said: "I told her that she was very beautiful and I told her that her dad was amazing, said that I never met him.

"It was one of my big sorrows that I never got to meet him. She was lovely, she’s such a lovely girl."

The news comes after Paris recently opened up about life with her father, insisting her upbringing was "normal" and recalled how strict the ‘Thriller’ musician was with their schooling and never allowed any bad behaviour.

She said: "We actually had a pretty normal life. Like, we had school every single day, and we had to be good. And if we were good, every other weekend or so, we could choose whether we were gonna go to the movie theatre or see the animals or whatever. But if you were on bad behaviour, then you wouldn’t get to go do all those things."

Meanwhile Michael Jackson’s nephew TJ Jackson – who is the legal guardian of Paris as well as her brothers Prince, 19, and Blanket, 14 – previously praised the ‘Bad’ singer for instilling "core ethics and values" in his children.

He said: "I don’t think there’s anything I had to teach them because my uncle taught them everything they need to know.

"All the important things – their core ethics and values are so strong, and there’s moments where I just hear my uncle’s voice come out of them because [of] their love for people and their innocence."

Paris Jackson was sexually assaulted at 14

Paris Jackson has revealed she was sexually assaulted by a "complete stranger" at the age of 14.

The 18-year-old aspiring actress has opened up on the traumatic experience which she kept secret from her family and friends.

Paris revealed the incident in a candid interview with the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine, saying: "I don’t wanna give too many details. But it was not a good experience at all, and it was really hard for me, and, at the time, I didn’t tell anybody." Paris – who, along with her two brothers Prince, 19, and Blanket, 14, was raised solely by her father Michael Jackson until his death from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 – also bravely admitted that her publicly known suicide attempt at 15 was not the only time she attempted to take her own life.

The pretty blonde slashed her wrist and took 20 Motrin pills and she says the suicide attempt was caused by drug addiction and depression – a mental health problem she shared with her King of Pop dad Michael, even being prescribed the same medication he took.

Paris – who was also self-harming during that period in her life – said: "It was just self-hatred, low self-esteem, thinking that I couldn’t do anything right, not thinking I was worthy of living anymore … It was just once that it became public."

Because she had been admitted on previous occasions the staff at the hospital insisted that Paris she attend a residential therapy program, which she credits with saving her life.

Paris, who had been home schooled by her dad Michael, also believes her struggles when she started studying at a private school contributed to her depression, but her switch to a therapeutic school in Utah for her sophomore year and half of her junior year helped her greatly.

She shared: "(I was hanging out with) a lot of older people doing a lot of crazy things. I was doing a lot of things that 13, 14, 15-year-olds shouldn’t do. I tried to grow up too fast, and I wasn’t really that nice of a person."

Discussing her time at the educational facility in Utah, she added: "It was great for me. I’m a completely different person. Before I was crazy. I was actually crazy. I was going through a lot of, like, teen angst. And I was also dealing with my depression and my anxiety without any help."

TJ Jackson: Michael Jackson was the greatest father

TJ Jackson says his late uncle Michael Jackson was the "greatest father".

The 38-year-old singer – who is the legal guardian of the pop icon’s children Prince, 19, Paris, 18, and Blanket, 14 – has opened up about the lessons he has tried to teach his cousins in the wake of their father’s passing, saying their "core ethics and values" came solely from the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker himself.

Speaking to Barbara Walters for an Investigation Discovery special called ‘Barbara Walters Presents: Michael Jackson: The Man in the Mirror’, TJ said: "I don’t think there’s anything I had to teach them because my uncle taught them everything they need to know.

"All the important things – their core ethics and values are so strong, and there’s moments where I just hear my uncle’s voice come out of them because [of] their love for people and their innocence."

And the T3 singer says the one thing he does make sure his cousins understand is how lucky they were to have him as a parent.

He added: "I don’t even spend time on my uncle with them as a performer. I just try to make sure that they know their father was one of the greatest, greatest fathers. And that’s why it’s tough for me because he never got to finish his job as a parent."

The news comes after Prince – the eldest son of the ‘Billie Jean’ singer, who died in 2009 – recently revealed his late father taught him "what it is to be a man".

He said: "He taught me what it is to be a man; he showed me what it is to be a father. For me, [I want] to pass that on to my kids, or to help someone else who has kids. My cousin TJ [Jackson]’s kids, I treat them as if they were my kids. I have fun with them, I love watching them. That being said, I do hype them up, and they do get wild around me, but I think that would probably be the way to continue the teachings."

‘Barbara Walters Presents: Michael Jackson: The Man in the Mirror’ premieres on Tuesday (12.20.16).

Prince Jackson’s charitable Christmas

Prince Jackson is spending his Christmas encouraging young people to get involved in charities.

The 19-year-old son of the late pop music icon Michael Jackson has been doing his best to spread the message of goodwill this Christmas, as he aims to make the holidays special for underprivileged children.

The star – whose real name is Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. – says young people "focus on the wrong things", and he hopes to encourage his generation to "devote their time" to a good cause.

He said: "I would love to see this as the ripple that goes to other schools and to other states and to hopefully other countries.

"Our generation, they focus on the wrong things, like, ‘Who’s wearing what? Who’s doing what? Who’s vacationing where?’ There are real problems going on in the world that can be helped not by powerful people but by everyday people who just go in and devote their time.

"You should be decent enough to help out or want to help out your fellow man or woman."

Prince – who has siblings Paris, 18, and Blanket, 14 – credits his late father, who passed away in 2009, as his biggest inspiration in continuing his charitable deeds.

He said: I think he would be very happy.

"When I was younger my dad always told me about how Disney was such a happy place and I grew up on the cartoons. And I remember [watching] Mickey Mouse and all of [the cartoon characters] and how happy I would feel and I know that was because of my dad.

"It’s good to know that I’m doing that for the kids."

And it isn’t just his father who Prince cites for helping him along his journey, as he also says his siblings and his extended family "inspire" him.

He told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: "I have a great sense of loyalty and devotion to my family. They inspire me and I hope I inspire them."
