Chatr offering 5GB of bonus data for six months on $35+ plans

Rogers’ Chatr is offering customers 5GB of free bonus data per month for six months.

The deal applies to plans starting at $35/mo and up, which means customers can get as much as 25GB of data per month for six months at the top end of Chatr’s plans.

As with similar deals Chatr has offered in the past, customers can’t combine it with other data bonus offers, and the bonus will expire if the account becomes inactive or if the plan changes before the end of the six-month period. As such, make sure to pick a plan you’ll want to keep for at least that long.

Unfortunately, you also need to sign up for Chatr’s automatic payments to get the offer. Moreover, Chatr notes that the 2GB of bonus data customers normally get with auto-pay is included in the 5GB bonus, so really you’re getting 3GB of bonus data for six months.

The bonus data offer is only available until March 20th.

While not a bad offer, it’s worth keeping in mind that Fido, Koodo and Virgin Plus are currently offering a double-data promo and $10/mo credit on select plans. That means you can get $50/20GB or $55/30GB plans with them, though the price will go up by $10 after 24 months. Still, you end up with more data than Chatr’s similarly-priced plans, and faster data too, since Chatr caps speeds at 10Mbps.

Telus joins Rogers in offering some customers 10GB of bonus data

Rogers isn’t the only major carrier offering extra data to customers. Some Telus customers also received an offer of 10GB of extra data that’s set to expire after eight years.

The Telus offer was detailed in a RedFlagDeals post responding to a similar 10GB offer from Rogers last week. Spotted by iPhone in Canada, the RFD post from ‘247DealSeeker’ notes that they received a 10GB bonus data from Telus on their non-EPP plan. The post also includes two screenshots with more details.

The first screenshot is of a text message from Telus, which says that it “added a complimentary 10GB/mo of high speed data to your account at no extra cost” as a “gift” for being a customer. The message goes on to explain that the customer doesn’t need to do anything, and the bonus data will be added to the account “as long as you keep your current rate plan.”

Of course, that second part isn’t entirely true, at least based on the second screenshot of a Telus FAQ page about the complimentary data, which says:

“The complimentary data will already be reflected on your account and will be valid as long as you keep your current rate plan, including during a device upgrade. After logging into your My TELUS account, you will see the complimentary data under Transaction History, with an expiry date of 8 years.” (Emphasis ours)

The Telus offer differs from Rogers’ version in a couple significant ways — first, it requires no action from the customer to activate. More importantly, the Telus offer lasts much longer than the Rogers one, which is set to expire after 24 months.

Unfortunately with deals like this, your mileage may vary. Telus customers should definitely keep an eye out for a message from the carrier about the extra data, but if you don’t get the message you might just be out of luck.

Chatr Mobile offering 8GB of monthly bonus data for eight months

Rogers flanker brand Chatr Mobile is also getting in on the Lunar New Year action by offering 8GB of bonus monthly data for eight months on select plans.

The deal is available on the following plans:

  • $40/mo 5GB + 8GB bonus
  • $50/mo 10GB + 8GB bonus
  • $60/mo 15GB + 8GB bonus
  • $70/mo 20GB + 8GB bonus

It’s worth noting, as with past Chatr deals, that the bonus will expire if the account becomes inactive or if customers change their plans before the end of the eight-month period. As such, make sure to sign up with a plan you’ll want to hang onto for the next few months.

Chatr’s website also notes that the offer is for new activations with auto-pay (the 8GB bonus includes a 2GB auto-pay bonus), and it will be available until February 7th.

Finally, it’s worth keeping in mind that Chatr caps its data at 3G speeds, which the providers notes is up to 10Mbps.

Public Mobile, Chatr offering 2GB bonus data for six months

Telus flanker brand Public Mobile and Rogers flanker brand Chatr are both offering 2GB of bonus data for six months on select plans.

Both carriers list the offer as available until July 18th, which gives you a couple of days to claim it (if you want). The main difference between the two is Public is offering the 2GB bonus on its new 4G plans (which start at $41.25/mo) while Chatr has the deal on its 3G plans starting at $35/mo.

While you have to get a slightly more expensive plan with Public Mobile, you also get the bonus of using 4G data, which should translate to much faster speeds (Public claims up to 30 times faster than its 3G plans).

Moreover, both providers will remove the data bonus if customers change their plan, so make sure you sign up with a plan you’ll want for at least six months. Additionally, the bonus will expire if the account becomes inactive.

Bell’s Lucky Mobile doesn’t currently offer a 2GB data bonus, but it does have a one-month free offer for those who sign up before July 18th.

Chatr is back with another 2GB data bonus for six months

Rogers flanker brand Chatr is back with another ‘flash sale.’ This time around, the provider is offering 2GB of bonus per month for six months when you get a new plan.

Chatr’s offer is available for new activations of its plans starting at $35/mo. Like with previous offers from the provider, this one will expire if an account becomes inactive or if customers change their plan before the end of the six-month period. With that in mind, make sure to pick a plan that you’ll want to keep for at least six months.

The 2GB bonus is just one option for Chatr customers to boost their monthly data. Customers who sign up for Chatr’s auto-pay system also get a bonus 500MB of data per month. That stacks with the current 2GB offer, making it 2.5GB for the first six months.

Chatr’s flash sale runs until June 27th, but if you can’t take advantage of it this time around, it’s worth noting that the provider has similar offers to this available relatively often.

Koodo, Fido, Virgin roll out $65/20GB limited-time offer

Koodo, Fido, and Virgin Plus have updated their plan pages with a new limited-time offer: $65/mo for 20GB of data.

The deal essentially adds 5GB of bonus data onto the flanker brands’ existing $65/15GB plans. Both Koodo and Virgin list the offer as running until July 4th, while Fido’s site simply says it’s a “limited time” deal. Interestingly, Fido’s website also says the offer “will appear on your 2nd or 3rd invoice.”

Overall, the new offer isn’t bad. The three flanker brands also offer $60/mo 10GB plans, so an extra $5/mo for double the data is pretty decent.

Also, if you’re a lucky Koodo customer, you may not even need to spring for this offer. Some customers received texts from the carrier in June offering them 5GB of free bonus data on their current plans. You can read more about that here.

Chatr Mobile offering new customers one month of free service on all plans

Chatr Mobile is offering all new customers one month of free service.

The offer applies to all of Chatr’s talk, text, and data plans and the $15 a month talk and text plan.

This is a rarity for Chatr, as the company only occasionally puts promotional offers on its $25 a month talk, text and data plan or its talk and text plans.

The company frequently offers bonus data on all plans $35 a month and above, a currently active offer. 

This means new customers signing up for a plan priced at $35 a month and above will get 2GB of bonus data for 12 months and the credit for one month’s service.

But there are a couple of essential points to keep in mind. Both offers (bonus data and credit) expire today (June 1st). Customers can only apply the credit for a month’s fee on their third anniversary, meaning they must stick with the plan for three years.

Chatr Mobile is offering new customers an extra 2GB of bonus data every month for a year.

The deal applies to all talk, text, and data plans priced at $35 a month and higher, including the following:

  • 20GB for $70 a month
  • 15GB for $60 a month
  • 10GB for $50 a month
  • 4.5GB for $40 a month
  • 2.5GB for $35 a month

The bonus doesn’t apply to the $25 a month plan. The sale expires on June 1st.

Chatr Mobile is offering new customers 2GB of bonus data on almost all plans.

The flash sale at the Rogers flanker brand lasts until May 2nd.

This is what new customers will get for applicable talk, text, and data plans with the bonus data:

  • $70/month for 22GB of data
  • $60/month for 17GB of data
  • $50/month for 12GB of data
  • $40/month for 6.5GB of data
  • $35/month for 4.5GB of data

The offer doesn’t apply to the $25/month 500MB talk, text, and data plan or the $15/month talk and text plan.

Public Mobile offering 2GB of bonus data in flash sale

Public Mobile is offering new customers 2GB of bonus data for six months for a limited time.

The free offering only applies to plans starting at $35 a month. The $35 plan offers 2.5GB of data, and the bonus will mean users get 4.5GB of data for the first six months. That’s the same amount of monthly data on their $40 a month plan.

Of course, there are a few caveats. The offer expires on March 21, and only new customers can cash in on the deal. Users must use the promo code ‘6MONTH2GB’ for the offer to apply. The offer isn’t valid on their $15 or $25 monthly plans.
