Chatr flash sale offers 4GB bonus data per month for four months

Rogers’ flanker Chatr is running a flash sale for Holi offering 4GB of bonus data per month.

Those who activate a Chatr ‘Talk, Text & Data’ plan that costs $35/mo or more will get the data bonus. However, it’s worth keeping in mind that the bonus will expire if the account becomes inactive or the plan changes before the end of the four months.

The flash sale runs until March 21st, which means customers only have a short time to claim the deal.

Chatr’s eligible plans are below:

  • $70/mo 20GB + 4GB bonus with Unlimited Canada/U.S. Talk
  • $60/mo 15GB + 4GB bonus with Unlimited Canada/U.S. Talk
  • $50/mo 10GB + 4GB bonus with Unlimited Canada/U.S. Talk
  • $40/mo 4.5GB + 4GB bonus with Unlimited Canada-wide Talk
  • $35/mo 2.5GB + 4GB bonus with Unlimited Canada-wide Talk

It’s worth noting that customers can also get an additional 500MB of monthly data if they sign up for Chatr’s auto-pay service. All plans come with unlimited text to Canada, the U.S., and international, call display, call forwarding, and group calling.

You can learn more about the flash sale on Chatr’s website.

Koodo reportedly offering some customers 5GB of bonus data again

Koodo is reportedly offering customers 5GB of free bonus data once again.

According to a screenshot of a text message from Koodo sent to our friends over at iPhone In Canada, the Telus flanker brand is showing its “appreciation” to customers with the 5GB offer. You can read the full text below:

“Koodo: Hi, [redacted]. Thanks for sticking with Koodo! To show our appreciation, we added 5GB of bonus monthly data to your account, for no additional cost. Check out this gift by logging into Self-Serve at http://koo.do/selfserve. It will stay on until you change your plan or upgrade your phone. ‘But Koodo,’ you ask, ‘why are you doing this?’ Consider it a random act of happiness. Conditions apply. You’re included on the list for Koodo offers and deals. To be excluded, reply ‘unsubscribe’ or visit [redacted].”

Notably, the message notes that the bonus data will stick on users’ accounts until they change their plan or upgrade their phone. In other words, you should be able to hold onto the bonus data for a while if you don’t plan on changing either your plan or phone soon.

That stands in stark contrast to Rogers flanker brand Fido, which recently offered 5GB of bonus data to some customers. Fido’s bonus data will drop off after 15 months, however. It’s also worth noting that Fido and Koodo offered 5GB of bonus data to customers as part of Black Friday in November. This latest round of giving may be an extension of that.

Speaking of, I checked the RedFlagDeals thread from that Koodo Black Friday offer and found a new post from user ‘Kymera’ on December 2nd that noted they received the 5GB bonus offer and that it was still on. Kymera wrote that they had recently moved to the $50/mo 12GB plan Koodo offered during Black Friday. Interestingly, Kymera also said they signed up for the Public Mobile Black Friday promotion with the same email they used for Koodo and received the 5GB bonus text shortly after. They wrote that they did the Public Mobile deal for a family member, but now wonders if Koodo sent the 5GB bonus to dissuade them from switching to a cheaper Public plan.

Regardless, if you’re a Koodo subscriber, you may want to keep an eye out for a text message from the carrier (or even head straight to your Koodo Self Serve account to check for the offer).

Fido reportedly offering some customers 5GB of bonus data again

Another day, another Fido 5GB bonus data offer.

It seems every time I turn around, there’s another RedFlagDeals thread from Fido customers who received a 5GB data bonus offer from the Rogers flanker brand. The original poster didn’t specify any time limits on the offer, but another RFD user confirmed they got the deal too.

Like previous Fido 5GB bonus offers, the extra data will last 15 months and then drop off the account. According to screenshots shared by the RFD users, the data has “no added cost [and] no new contract.”

That said, some other RFD users noted that they had credits on their account (e.g. $5 off per month) and when they claimed the 5GB bonus data offer, it counted as a ‘plan change’ and removed the credit. It’s not clear how widespread that issue is, but it’s something to be aware of if you have a sizeable credit and you see the 5GB offer.

One user chimed in that they weren’t able to get the 5GB bonus data, but when they checked their account, there was a $60/mo 35GB plan available instead.

Ultimately, your mileage may vary with this offer. If you do miss it this time around, you might be able to claim one in the future — Fido seems to offer 5GB of bonus data fairly often. Back in November, Fido (and surprisingly Koodo) offered some customers 5GB of bonus data for Black Friday. Before that, we covered two instances in October where Fido customers received 5GB of bonus data.

If you’re a Fido customer, you may want to check your MyAccount portal to see if there’s bonus data available for you.

Fido reportedly offering customers 5GB of bonus data for 15 months again

Earlier this month, Rogers flanker brand Fido reportedly offered 5GB of free bonus data to some users. Now, the offer is circulating again.

According to a screenshot of a text message sent to iPhone in Canada, Fido is offering some customers 5GB of data for 15 months. The pictured text message from Fido reads as follows (sans a few emojis):

“Hi David, it’s Fido. You deserve more data. Here’s an extra 5 GB every month for 15 months. Seriously! No added costs, no new contracts, no strings attached. All because you’re a great customer.

“Visit fido.ly/my-account and sign in to get your FREE gigs before November 1st, 2021. Hurry! You don’t want to miss this.”

The URL included in the message goes to Fido’s MyAccount sign-in page.

All in all, it seems like a solid offer. It’d be nice if the 5GB bonus was permanent, but hey, I’ll take free extra data for 15 months too. Unfortunately, the deal is extremely ‘your mileage may vary’ — if you got one of these messages from Fido, you should head to the MyAccount portal to claim your data.

If you’re with Fido but haven’t received a message like this, you might be out of luck. Still, it could be worth checking the MyAccount portal just in case the offer is there too.

It’s also worth noting that Rogers and Fido seem to give out bonus data fairly often. In September, Rogers reportedly offered some customers 5GB of bonus data. Both it and Fido had similar offers about a year prior. In other words, if you didn’t luck out in this round of bonus data, give it a few months — maybe you’ll be in the next one.
