Butch Goring roasts Biznasty, P.K. Subban, and Ryan Callahan.

A couple of young fellas have been taken to school this morning, and the teacher handing out the lessons isn’t exactly the kind of teacher you’re going to be inclined to give any back talk to.

On Monday morning, New York Islanders legend Butch Goring woke up and chose violence when he decided to roast a number of his fellow NHL alumni over opinions they had expressed over the course of the season. Specifically, Goring called out Paul “Biznasty” Bissonnette, P.K. Subban and Ryan Callahan for a variety of reasons.

It was Biz who got the worst of the 4-time Stanley Cup winner’s ire, with Goring sending out a tweet just for him.

“Hey Biz, just wondering what time that exciting and entertaining Sabres playoff game starts,” taunted the Islanders legend.

If you’re not familiar with the context, don’t worry I’ve got you covered. Back in February of this year, Goring and Biz butted heads a little over comments Biz made regarding the style employed by the Islanders.

“I would love to see the Buffalo Sabres in the playoffs,” said Biz back in February. “They are way more exciting to watch than the Islanders. The Islanders are the most boring team in the NHL, I do not want them to make the playoffs, I don’t care if all of Long Island hates my guts. They are a snoozefest. Snoozefest!”

As mentioned Goring also took aim at Subban and Callahan on Monday morning, with another tweet reserved for that pair.

“I am guessing Subban and Callahan will be going to bed early given the Isles are playing tonight. No big deal , no one will miss them,” taunted Goring yet again on social media.

I’ve gotta be honest with you I’m not even sure what Subban or Callahan said to draw the ire of the 73 year old former NHLer, but I suspect they likely made comments similar to the ones from Biz for Goring to respond in such a manner.

Red Wings officially eliminated from postseason contention

Despite two separate two-goal comebacks, the Detroit Red Wings were unable to defeat the Buffalo Sabres for what would have been the first time this season, and in doing so, their already razor-thin postseason hopes were officially dashed.

Their 7-6 shootout loss to the Sabres tonight at Little Caesars Arena combined with the New York Islanders securing two points officially knocked them on the outside looking in on the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. This means that their postseason drought has reached seven seasons following 25 straight trips to the annual dance.

Report: Pair of Eastern teams could target John Gibson

The Anaheim Ducks have had a miserable campaign, though one of the only positive aspects about the regular season that is winding down to a close is that they’ll be right in the thick of things in the NHL Draft Lottery with the chance to draft phenom forward Connor Bedard.

One of the other positive aspects on this miserable Ducks squad is goaltender John Gibson, who has done everything possible to be a consummate professional despite having nearly no help in front of him. And despite having four years remaining on his current deal with an average annual value of $6.4 million, could the only NHL team that he’s suited up for have plans to move on from him?

It wasn’t long ago that Pierre LeBrun floated the idea that future playoff bound teams looking for an upgrade between the pipes could make an offer for Gibson, who would almost certainly thrive on a team with more talent in front of him. And that idea was furthered by Dan Rosen of NHL.com, who suggested two potential possibilities that included a possible homecoming for the Pittsburgh native.

Take a look at his response:

“The Penguins could use him. Tristan Jarry is in the last season of his contract, a pending unrestricted free agent, and he’s been injury prone. If the Penguins miss the playoffs or get in and lose in the first round, it’s possible, if not likely, that they could go in a different direction with their No. 1 goalie. Gibson is from Pittsburgh and having him could keep the Penguins run at being Stanley Cup contenders alive for a few more seasons regardless of what happens this season.”

“The Buffalo Sabres should also be in the mix. Craig Anderson has had a fine season, but he’s 41 years old and the Sabres are built to win starting next season. Gibson fits there. He could do a lot of winning with them.”
