Harry Potter and the Cursed Child set for Broadway

‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ is set to be staged on Broadway.

The two-part play – which is set 19 years after J.K. Rowling’s books and spin-off movies – has its official opening in London’s West End on Saturday (07.30.16) and producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender are working on plans to stage the show in New York.

Colin told the Daily Mail: "We’ve got to take a very big breath now and get through the weekend.

"Then we’ll deal with what the next stage looks like – and hopefully Broadway will be part of that."

The play sees Harry as an "overworked" employee of the Ministry of Magic and centers on his and Ginny Weasley’s son Albus and author J.K. Rowling recently pleaded with fans not to spoil the plot of the play for others.

She said in a YouTube video: "You’ve been amazing for years at keeping Harry Potter secrets so you don’t spoil the books for readers who came after you.

"So I’m asking you one more time to keep secrets and let audiences enjoy ‘Cursed Child’ with all the surprises that we’ve built into the story.

"Potter fans have always had each other’s backs."

Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe – who played Harry in the movies – has revealed he is reluctant to see the production in case his presence in the audience distracts from what is going on on stage.

He said: "It would be a weird one. I could be completely wrong in this, but I feel like if I went to see it, there’s going to be a lot of ‘Harry Potter’ fans there in the audience obviously and would that then become a thing?

"Would it be more about them watching me watch the show or would it take away from the show. I would never want to do anything that would distract or take away from the show.

"I don’t know. I’m busy doing a play here at the moment, but I’m not sure."

Daniel Radcliffe: I had a normal childhood

Daniel Radcliffe insists he had a normal childhood.

The ‘Harry Potter’ star found fame aged 11 by starring as the boy wizard in the film series but says he managed to have a "really private" upbringing on the most part.

He said: "I think people always imagined that I didn’t have a childhood or I missed out on some stuff, and I’m sure I had a very different childhood, but all those first dates and first kisses, those rites of passage, I still had them, and they were actually generally really private. I don’t feel like I have to share them with the world, and I felt like they were really my own, which is nice."

And the 26-year-old actor also recalled his first "proper" date, revealing he had to wear a cap throughout the whole evening so he wouldn’t get noticed.

Speaking on an episode of The Jess Cagle Interview, he added: "I just went out with a cap on, and you have to hope that the person you’re dating is understanding and not made to feel awkward by someone coming up or anything like that, but you just do it. That was always the weird thing."

Meanwhile, Daniel previously revealed he lives a "hilariously mundane" life.

He said: "We’re always doing hilariously mundane s**t. They never get me doing anything interesting, so the headline has to be like, ‘They bought a yoga mat!’"

And the ‘Swiss Army Man’ star also admitted he tries not to read any comments made about him online incase it gets him down.

He shared: "Sometimes I go through an unhealthy phase where I do read quite a lot [about myself]. Then I go through phases, like where I am at the moment, where I’m good and I don’t and it generally makes me happier. I always wonder why I go back.

"What it normally starts of with is, I do an interview and I’m a bit worried about it. So I look it up and think, ‘Oh what’s that person written?’ and I click on it and it’s something awful and I’m like, ‘Oh man, why did I do this to myself? It’s stupid and I shouldn’t."

Daniel Radcliffe teases a return to Harry Potter

Daniel Radcliffe has teased he’ll play Harry Potter again "in the future".

The 26-year-old actor, who played the titular wizard in the hit movie series based on the books by J.K. Rowling, has delighted fans and said he’s not ruled out a return to the role that rocketed him to world-wide fame.

The ‘Now You See Me 2’ actor says he’d be willing to play an older version of Harry under one condition, and said: "It would depend on the script. The circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary. But then I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo and look what happened there! So I am saying, ‘No,’ for now but leaving room to backtrack in the future."

Daniel was thrust into the limelight when he was cast as the orphan with magical powers alongside Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as Harry’s two best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.

And it’s not known whether his fellow child stars would follow his lead and play the Gryffindor alumni once more.

Daniel can be seen in playing a magician called Walter, who is out to avenge his father, with Jesse Eisenberg, Dave Franco and Woody Harrelson, but says he never saw the link between his old character and Walter.

He said: "I actually didn’t consider the connection to magic until somebody pointed it out to me. They were like, ‘You are going to get loads of questions about magic again,’ and I went, ‘Oh, damn, I guess I am!’

Meanwhile, despite firmly making a distance between him and Harry, Daniel is still mobbed by Potter fans, especially in Japan and Mexico City.

He told Radio Times: "They are the two places where I thought, ‘OK, I can’t really walk around here.’

"It is much more now because when I was younger I wasn’t going out by myself. Also, the fans of the films were younger and they were indoors with their parents whereas now we are all in our 20s. The people who were big fans of Potter I am more likely to meet now, rather than when I was in my teens."

An adult Potter is currently depicted in London’s West End in J.K. Rowling’s play ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, with Jamie Parker in the title role.

Daniel Radcliffe unsure he’ll see Potter play

Daniel Radcliffe thinks it would be "weird" for him to see ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’.

The ‘Now You See Me 2’ actor shot to fame playing the boy wizard in the hit movie franchise and is reluctant to see the upcoming new play in case his presence in the audience distracts from what is going on on stage.

He told E! News: "It would be a weird one. I could be completely wrong in this, but I feel like if I went to see it that night, there’s going to be a lot of ‘Harry Potter’ fans there in the audience obviously and would that then become a thing?

"Would it be more about them watching me watch the show or would it take away from the show. I would never want to do anything that would distract or take away from the show.

"I don’t know. I’m busy doing a play here at the moment, but I’m not sure."

Author J.K. Rowling recently pleaded with fans not to spoil the plot of the play for other audience members.

The play – which will begin preview performances at London’s Palace Theatre on July 7 – is set 19 years after the last book ended and sees Harry as an "overworked" employee of the Ministry of Magic and centers on his son Albus.

Daniel Radcliffe’s childhood home on market for £1.45m

Daniel Radcliffe’s childhood home has been put on the market for £1.45 million.

The four-bedroom terraced house in Sherbrooke Road, Fulham, West London is where the 26-year-old Harry Potter actor is said to have lived up to the age of 12 with his father Alan Radcliffe, who worked as a literary agent, and his mother, casting agent Marcia Gresham.

James Turner, of estate agents Chestertons who are selling the property, told MailOnline: "This is Daniel Radcliffe’s childhood home it has only just come on the market so there has not been too much interest yet. We have had a handful of viewings though and we are hoping that interest will increase dramatically when the word gets out.

"We don’t advertise the house based on who used to live here but we do tell people when we take them round and they tend to raise a smile. Although there was one person who turned round and said, ‘Who is Daniel Radcliffe?”

The property, which overlooks a cemetery has been transformed into a luxury modern home.

In the marketing material, the house is described as a white-washed terrace and has two bathrooms, a double reception room with an exposed brickwork feature wall, converted loft and a kitchen with a dining room that opens out onto a private garden.

The property is expected to be snapped up – whether buyers are interested in its former famous resident or not.

Mr Turner said: "Prices on the whole are doing well in this part of London. This end of Sherbrooke Road wasn’t always as desirable and in demand as once it was, but now it is very much sought-after, as is most of the SW6 postcode that last year was voted the ‘happiest’ in London."

Daniel, who was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in November last year, made his acting debut in BBC One’s 1999 television film ‘David Copperfield’, when he was just aged 10.

His big screen debut came in 2001 in ‘The Tailor of Panama’ and when he turned 11 years old, he was cast as Harry Potter and reprised his role in the J.K Rowling series for 10 years until the eighth and final film was released in 2011.

According to the Sunday Times Rich List 2016, the ‘Woman in Black’ star is worth £74 million.

Daniel Radcliffe has savings of almost 60m

Daniel Radcliffe has almost £60 million in savings.

The 26-year-old actor – who shot to fame playing Harry Potter in the movie adaptations of JK Rowling’s books – holds £59,393,476 in his company Gilmore Jacobs, according to reports filed to Companies House.

This is £2 million more than he had the year before, according to the Daily Mirror newspaper.

The new accounts date up until March 2015.

Meanwhile, Daniel recently admitted he finds watching his own movies ”pointless” because he is so critical of himself.

He explained: ”I stopped watching myself quite recently because it’s never great.

”Sometimes I’ll be happy, but I’ll never be like, ‘Oh yeah, that was awesome.’

”I always focus on the stuff that I would rather have done differently and it’s a bit pointless after a while.”

And he insisted that he was determined to become a huge success after ‘Harry Potter’ because he wanted to prove the doubters wrong.

He said: ”Sometimes I think it’s useful for me to believe that’s what people are thinking.

”It’s always been a driving factor, that people assumed we were going to disappear or become f**k-ups. That’s always been a motivation. To prove those people wrong.”

Daniel Radcliffe honored with star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Daniel Radcliffe has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The 26-year-old actor – who shot into the limelight after starring in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise at the age of 11 – was awarded with the 2,565th star at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, yesterday (11.12.15) after being recognised for his remarkable career over the past 15 years.

Speaking to Variety at the ceremony, Daniel said he was shocked but thrilled to have been given the honor.

He added: ”We (Brits) have a national embarrassment about people saying nice things about us, so I was taken aback at first but then I had a real sense of gratitude. Only about 20 per cent of people who work in film and television end up on the Walk Of Fame. It’s kind of amazing.

”I don’t know if they remove these things, but no matter how badly I mess up, they can’t remove it.”

Daniel, who is among the small number of child stars to carve out a successful career in Hollywood into adulthood, went on to thank his parents Alan and Marcia, who flew out to the US for the ceremony, for their support over the years.

Meanwhile, the handsome star was across the pond to promote his forthcoming movie ‘Victor Frankenstein,’ in which he portrays assistant Igor to the mad scientist obsessed with creating life, played by James McAvoy.

However, as well as a large stash of films under his belt, Daniel has also made a name for himself on Broadway after starring in the musical comedy ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying’ and the psycho-drama ‘Equus.’

Daniel Radcliffe loves video games

Daniel Radcliffe used his latest acting job to rekindle his love of video games.

The 26-year-old actor has been cast in the new TV show ‘The Gamechangers’ – which tells the intriguing story behind the iconic video game ‘Grand Theft Auto’ – and Daniel’s revealed his role has given him an excuse to revive his interest in computer consoles.

Asked whether he was a big gamer as a child, Daniel said: ”Yes, although I was never very good at games. I still play ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto’. I got back into it when I was preparing for this role; it was a good excuse.”

Daniel confessed that computer games, and ‘Grand Theft Auto’ in particular, played a ”huge part” in his childhood.

Reflecting on the plotline of his latest show, Daniel told Radio Times: ”It’s the story of the computer game ‘Grand Theft Auto’, which was a huge part of my life growing up.

”I play Sam Houser, one of the guys who invented it. But I never had any idea about the detail of the trouble of the guys got into, or event that it was such a British story.”

Daniel Radcliffe: I’m sexier than Harry Potter

Daniel Radcliffe insists he’s ”sexier” than Harry Potter.

The 25-year-old actor – who shot to fame playing the boy wizard in the movie adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s novels – doesn’t understand why people were ”surprised” when he was cast as the romantic lead in ‘What If?’ because there’s a lot more to him than his magic alter-ego.

He told Marie Claire magazine: ”Can you tell me why people are surprised?

”You saw me growing up like a f***ing boy in a school robe. Of course there’s a sexier side to me than that.”

Daniel is dating his ‘Kill Your Darlings’ co-star Erin Darke and admits he likes to plan romantic gestures – though he sometimes ruins the element of surprise.

He said: ”I was going to fly to New York to surprise her once, but then I kind of ruined my own surprise the night before because I was on the phone to her and she’d had a terrible day and was in a bad mood and I wanted to make it all go away.

”I just went, ‘Guess what? I’m going to be there tomorrow, we’re going to see each other’ ”

The ‘Horns’ star is wary of who he allows to get close to him and isn’t afraid to stand up for himself.

He said: ”I have a finely tuned bulls**t censor for when people are around for the wrong reason.

”I am polite but I also don’t take s**t. I’ve been brought up to stand up for myself. If someone is being a d**k, then it’s easy for me to call that out.”

Jennifer Lawrence screamed at Daniel Radcliffe

Jennifer Lawrence screamed at Daniel Radcliffe when she first met him because she was so excited.

‘The Hunger Games’ actress is a huge fan of the Harry Potter books and films and couldn’t contain her excitement when she met the actor – who played the titular wizard.

Speaking about the things she was interested in when she was younger on NBC’s ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’, she said: ”I read ‘Harry Potter’ three times. *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, but it all changes when you get older. You meet everyone and you’re like, ‘Oh, we’re all adults now’. It’s not the same as in the ’90s.”

But when asked if it ”wasn’t a big deal” when she met Daniel when she was older, she admitted she got star-struck.

She said, ”No! I screamed at him the first time that I met him”, before joking: ”Not like yelled at him, ‘You son of a … I never got my letter! I waited and waited.’ ”

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old actress also admitted she uses interviews to get revenge on her two older brothers Ben and Blaine for being mean to her when she was younger.

She said: ”I don’t really care, genuinely, because it’s karma. I was the little sister, there was nothing I could do, they threw me downstairs, I thought I was gonna die, every day. Then I turned out to be famous and talked about it on talk shows. It’s perfect karma for me, I don’t feel bad about that.”
