David Beckham buying US soccer team

David Beckham is "close to" buying a US soccer team.

The sportsman recently quit Los Angeles Galaxy to focus on "one last challenge" and is thought to be planning to play in Europe but leaving the club doesn’t mean he is completely bowing out of the game in America.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on Kiis FM, he said: "Yes. That will obviously comes into play now. It only came into play once I finished playing here. I’m excited about that. My commitment when I came here six years ago was to take this league to another level, and my commitment stays the same. I might not be playing here but I will become a owner of a franchise and it’s something that I’m excited about. We’re close to a decision on that, but I can’t say it right now. I’m close to a decision on that!"

Announcing the end of his contract with LA Galaxy recently, David – who has children Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, seven-year-old Cruz, and 16-month-old daughter Harper with wife Victoria – spoke about his ownership ambitions.

He said in a statement: "I’ve had an incredibly special time playing for the LA Galaxy. However, I wanted to experience one last challenge before the end of my playing career.

"I don’t see this as the end of my relationship with the league, as my ambition is to be part of the ownership structure in the future."

Victoria Beckham open to fifth baby

Victoria Beckham is open to having another child.

The former Spice Girls star – who has children Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, nine, Cruz, seven, and 12-month-old Harper with husband David Beckham – admits juggling her family life with her fashion business can be tricky but she hasn’t ruled out expanding her brood even further.

Asked where she sees herself in five years, she said: "I’d like everybody to be healthy and happy. I’d like to be growing the business at a steady pace, and to be making more women feel empowered, beautiful, and confident.

"And I’d never say never about another baby. It’s a juggling act – a career, family, a husband who’s busy. But I’d never say never!"

Victoria also revealed she is a fan of steamy novel series ’50 Shades of Grey’ and while she has got her mum Jackie Adams to read the books, she is too embarrassed to discuss their content with her.

She told the new issue of America’s Glamour magazine: "I’m halfway through the second one. I even bought my mum the book! But every time she tries to engage in conversation about it, I kind of dodge the subject. I don’t really want to talk to my mother about S&M."

Victoria Beckham planning lavish bash for Harper

Victoria Beckham is hiring pink rabbits for her daughter’s first birthday.

The fashion designer and her soccer star husband David Beckham are planning a lavish bash to mark Harper Seven turning one next month and the couple are pulling out all the stops for the occasion.

A source told Closer magazine: "Victoria’s spending around £50,000. The garden will be filled with big pink cuddly toys, pony rides, a bouncy castle, balloons and tons of cupcakes. It’ll be totally pink.

"It sounds odd, but she’s even hiring special dyed-pink rabbits.

"They haven’t had a house party since they got their Beverly Hills mansion totally renovated so they wanted a big celebration to show that off too."

The party was initially planned to be an intimate occasion but the plans rapidly escalated.

A source close to the couple – who also have sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz – said: "The party will be before Harper’s actual birthday on 10 July, as on the day they’ll be in the UK where they’ll have a small celebration.

"It started off so simple with Victoria thinking it’d be cute to throw a party with all her friends. But with the excuse of a housewarming and Independence Day on July 4 coming up, it escalated into a proper showbiz bash.

"The guests will be all the Hollywood parents and kids – Victoria often has playdates with other celeb mums such as Selma Blair and Nicole Richie. And obviously, her best friend, Harper’s godmother Eva Longoria, will be there. Harper will get some amazing gifts."

David Beckham wants to be the best

David Beckham always wanted to be "the best".

The 37-year-old soccer star- who has four children, Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, nine, seven-year-old Cruz and 10-month-old Harper with wife Victoria – is determined to do well at whatever he tries his hand to and insists he never takes anything on in a half-hearted fashion.

He said: "Whatever I do, I want to be the best.

"I never do anything half-heartedly. I will continue to work hard and play hard and do everything I can to be successful whatever I do. I want to be the best. I think it’s a god way to be."

David and Victoria have an estimated joint fortune of around $290 million, but the sportsman insists their vast wealth is not a reason for them to retire, even though doing so would be "easy".

He added to Britain’s Elle magazine: "It would be easy to do that [retire] of course. It would be easy for me to retire or for Victoria to sit at home and be a wife and mum, but we’re still young. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t continue [to work]."

Eva Longoria thrilled to be Harper’s godmother

Eva Longoria is "thrilled" to be godmother to David and Victoria Beckham’s baby daughter.

The soccer star and the fashion designer will christen 10-month-old Harper later this year and have asked the ‘Desperate Housewives’ actress to play an important role in their little girl’s life.

Eva said: "Victoria asked me to be Harper’s godmother and of course I said yes. I’m absolutely thrilled. Harper is simply adorable."

David and Victoria – who also have sons Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, nine, and seven-year-old Cruz together – will baptise Harper in a lavish ceremony at their UK home and guests are expected to include Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Will Smith.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "David and Victoria feel it’s important Harper is christened. And they wanted the ceremony in the UK."

In 2004, the couple – who are currently living in Los Angeles – christened their eldest sons Brooklyn and Romeo at their mansion in Hertfordshire, South East England, with Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish being made godfathers to the boys.

Victoria and Eva became close friends since the Beckhams moved to Los Angeles in 2007 and she recently described Harper as a "chunky monkey".
