Eagles complete major trade with Lions

Talk about an interesting deal for the Philadelphia Eagles.

They’ve acquired star RB D’Andre Swift from the Detroit Lions along with a seventh-round pick (No. 249 overall). In exchange, the Eagles sent a fourth-round pick in 2025 and a seventh-rounder this year (No. 219 overall) back to Detroit.

Lions GM Brad Holmes didn’t exactly endorse Swift staying with the team following the 2023 NFL Draft.

“D’Andre, he’s still on our roster, he’s still a part of our team, he’s still under contract with us,” Holmes said Thursday. “He’s a dynamic football player, so it hadn’t really changed the math there yet, but it is early. It didn’t really change, we just kind of put Jahmyr in his own separate box, and just got really excited about the player. It didn’t really have any bearing on D’Andre.”

How are you feeling about this trade, Eagles fans?

NFL drops hammer on multiple players for gambling!

The National Football League has strict rules against player gambling, and those rules were recently broken. And now, the NFL is dropping the hammer.

Three NFL players – Quintez Cephus and C.J. Moore of the Detroit Lions and Shaka Toney of the Washington Commanders – have been suspended for an indefinite period of time for having gambled on games during the 2022 season. What’s more, Lions players Stanley Berryhill and Jameson Williams have been banned for the first six games of the upcoming 2023 NFL season for the same infraction.

“A league review uncovered no evidence indicating any inside information was used or that any game was compromised in any way,” a league statement said.

“As a result of an NFL investigation, it came to our attention that a few of our players had violated the league’s gambling policy,” Detroit general manager Brad Holmes said in a statement. “These players exhibited decision making that is not consistent with our organizational values and violates league rules. We have made the decision to part ways with Quintez and C.J. immediately. We are disappointed by the decision making demonstrated by Stanley and Jameson and will work with both players to ensure they understand the severity of these violations and have clarity on the league rules moving forward.”

Use better judgement in the future, guys!

Philadelphia Eagles have hired Matt Patricia

Well, this probably won’t go over very well with the passionate fan base of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Former New England Patriots assistant coach Matt Patricia, who also had an absolutely disastrous tenure as head coach of the Detroit Lions, has reportedly joined the team as an assistant.

JUST IN: Aaron Rodgers traded to Detroit Lions!

Aaron Rodgers is going to be staying in the NFC North Division after all! He was traded this afternoon to the rival Detroit Lions, ending speculation about his potentially joining the New York Jets! The move was announced by team management today during a press conference in…..

….okay, we’re just kidding. Happy April Fool’s Day!

Rodgers is still very much expected to eventually be wearing the green uniform of the Jets, with a deal to New York that “could happen as early as this week” according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer:

“I think it’ll happen sooner than people think because I don’t think things between the Packers and Jets are in nearly as bad a place as some seem to believe they are,” Breer wrote in his recent mailbag piece for SI. “We mentioned earlier in the week the rapport between GMs Joe Douglas and Brian Gutekunst from their time coming up as young road scouts. The two head coaches, Robert Saleh and Matt LaFleur, are best friends. So any raw feelings between Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, I think, are manageable, because of the relationships in place.”
