Drake bets over $1M in Bitcoin on Super Bowl LVIII

Drake, true to form, is making a spectacular sports bet on the heels of tonight’s (February 11) Super Bowl.

The Canadian music superstar is placing $1,150,000 on the Kansas City Chiefs, in Bitcoin no less, arguing that he simply can’t “bet against the Swifties”.

Drake is of course referring to his musical counterpart Taylor Swift, who has been dating Chiefs star Travis Kelce for some time.

Drake is therefore picking Taylor and the Chiefs to win Super Bowl LVIII, a bet that would pay just over 2.3 million, again in Bitcoin, should he win.

So, are you Team Chiefs/Drake/Taylor, or would you like to see the San Francisco 49ers crush all those fine hopes?

After all, Drake is known for his Drake curse in the sports world… but more on that later!

Happy Super Bowl!

Drake is Spotify’s King in the North

Drake has once again proven to be a Canadian favorite, topping the list of the most listened to artist in Canada in 2022.

He beat out Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Kanye West and Eminem!

Add to this success that the Toronto native is the third most listened to solo artist in the world.

Only Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift are ahead of him.

The 36-year-old rapper recently released a new album with 21 Savage, Her Loss, and it already has millions of listens.

The track Rich Flex alone already has close to 130 million listens… that’s phenomenal!

Harry Styles is also still dominant in Canada, with his song As It Was being the most streamed song on Spotify in Canada, while his album Harry’s House is at the top of the list of most listened to albums in the country.

For those of you who use the Spotify platform, the Wrapped playlists are available on the Spotify mobile app.

Drake loses $2M in one shot!

Drake, valued at $180 million (U.S.) by Forbes, is not afraid to bet very large amounts of money in sports.

After a big bet for FC Barcelona about a month ago, which lost him nearly $850,000, Drake went at it again by betting a “small” two million US dollars on a UFC fight.

The 36-year-old rapper bet on middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, who lost to his opponent, Alex Pereira. The fight took place at UFC 281, which took place at Madison Square Garden this past weekend.

Of course, Adesanya was the heavy favorite going into the fight, and if he won, it would net Drake $2.9 million, good for a $900,000 payout.

Drake is known for betting large amounts of money, whether it is during the Super Bowl, the NFL draft and even during some F1 Grand Prix, including the one in Spain.

Adesanya lost by technical knockout in the 5th round.

Drake breaks an old Beatles record

Drake recently became the artist with the most songs in the Top 5 most popular songs on Billboard, not to mention that this Beatles record has held up for 55 years!

To highlight this colossal feat, Drake dropped a post via his Instagram account.

https://www.instagram.com/p/ChTclfvOmI6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

“Ok I broke my records for the month”, Drake said.

The Toronto rapper now owns the record thanks to Staying Alive, which helped him reach the Top 5 on the Billboard charts for the 30th time in his career, beating out The Beatles (29 songs).

Let’s say one thing about this record though, in the Beatles’ era, there was no platform like there is now, which shows how dominant the quartet was.

Hacker hijacks YouTube accounts of Justin Bieber, Drake, and more

Several of the biggest names in music — including multiple Canadian artists — were targets of a massive hack that saw a bunch of odd videos uploaded to YouTube accounts.

The YouTube accounts hit include Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Drake, Lil Nas X, Harry Styles, Michael Jackson, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, and Eminem. According to Gizmodo, the hacker uploaded a video titled “Justin bieber – Free Paco Sanz (ft. Will Smith, Chris Rock, Skinny flex & Los Pelaos)” to Bieber’s channel.

Paco Sanz is a Spanish conman who was sentenced to two years in jail a few months ago for fraud. Sanz reportedly lied about having terminal cancer and defrauded large sums of money between 2010 and 2017.

A Twitter account under the name of ‘Los Pelaos‘ claimed responsibility for the hack and asked for suggestions on who to target next from followers. The account reportedly offered to sell security to celebrities who didn’t want to be hacked. It’s not clear who controls the account, but the profile picture appears to show Sanz.

The video uploaded in the hack shows Sanz holding a guitar the wrong way while singing along to a Spanish trap song remixed by ‘La Mafia Del Edit.’ Gizmodo notes that that’s an Instagram meme account that previously defended Sanz when he was convicted.

Although the videos have been taken down now, they racked up thousands of views first. Moreover, YouTube hasn’t acknowledged the incident yet, while a representative for music video network Vevo did address the incident in a statement to the New York Post:

“Some videos were directly uploaded to a small number of Vevo artist channels earlier today by an unauthorized source. All of those improperly uploaded videos have since been deleted by Vevo. No pre-existing content was accessible to the source. While the artist channels have been secured and the incident has been resolved, as a best practice Vevo will be conducting a review of our security systems.”

As Gizmodo explains, artists’ record labels upload music videos to Vevo through a separate, verified channel. Then, YouTube merges that content with the artists’ YouTube channels.

YouTube has been dealing with a wave of attacks recently. Some reportedly targeted high-profile content creators, publishing cryptocurrency scams or auctioning off access to the YouTube accounts. YouTube has since required popular pages to enable two-step verification.

Drake uses Bitcoin for his million dollar Super Bowl bets

In a fun twist, Canadian superstar Drake has made a million-dollar Super Bowl bet with Bitcoin.

A report from the Toronto Star mentions that Drake placed a series of bets totalling $1.6 million CAD, with the largest backing the L.A. Rams to win the big game.

This is part of a wider push amongst top athletes and celebrities lately for digital currencies. Even L.A. Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr asked the NFL to pay out his salary in Bitcoin last November.

Beckham Jr even commented on an Instagram post from Drake showing off his crypto-based bets, saying, “It’s time.”

While more celebrities are stepping into the new world of cryptocurrency, I would be hesitant to take this as a form of legitimization for digital money.

One of the reasons people like Bitcoin is that, unlike a normal currency, it can spike and grow relatively quickly over time. However, this also means it can deflate just as quickly. It’s kind of like investing in stocks rather than exchanging money from one currency to another.

Additionally, some users like being able to remove their wealth from a major currency that’s tied to a government. Others like its growth as a possible hedge against rising inflation. However, there are even arguments against that. There are pros and cons all over the crypto conversation. You can read a little more about them here.

Overall, this means it’s easy for multi-millionaire Drake to take that risk with a million-dollar crypto bet, but it might not be as savvy for everyone.

Heidi Klum is ready to date again

Heidi Klum is "very single and very ready to mingle".

The 44-year-old supermodel split from her boyfriend Vito Schnabel last September after three years together, and despite originally claiming she is on a break from dating, Heidi now revealed she is looking for love again.

Heidi was a guest on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Monday (26.02.18), and said: "I’m very single and very ready to mingle."

The 60-year-old comedian played ‘Would You Rather’ with the ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge and showed two pictures of male celebrities and Heidi had to decided which one she liked the best.

She said: "I play this with Mel B sometimes. We just call it ‘If You Had To’."

While playing the game, it appears she took a liking to rapper Drake after picking him over several stars including Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles and Brad Pitt.

On her decision, she said: "I like Drake. I mean, look at that muscle."

However, in a shock twist, Heidi picked Joaquin Phoenix over the ‘Hotline Bling’ hitmaker and claimed she has a "soft spot" for the actor.

Heidi previously revealed she still has a good relationship with her ex-husband Seal.

The duo were married from 2005 until 2014, and Heidi admitted it was important they maintained good relations for the sake of their children.

The ‘Project Runway’ star – who has sons Johan, 11, and Henry, 12, and daughters Lou, eight, and Leni, 13, with the singing star – explained: "It’s never really easy, I guess, when you break up.

"There was probably a reason for it and it kind of takes its time but then, you know, we’re always there for our children and always will be. You always make it work. You just do."

Saoirse Ronan dating ballet dancer?

Saoirse Ronan has sparked speculation she is dating a ballet dancer.

The 23-year-old actress is said to have been getting close to her reported new love interest Calum Lowden in recent weeks after meeting through mutual friends, and they were spotted hooking up at the post-BAFTAs dinner on Sunday night (02.18.18).

An insider said: "Saoirse didn’t win on the night but couldn’t have looked happier.

"She headed from the awards to the official dinner at Grosvenor House on Park Lane and hooked up with Calum again. They looked like things are going great between them."

The ‘Lady Bird’ actress and the Royal Swedish Ballet rising star are said to have kept their rumoured romance "low-key" on the night.

The insider added to The Sun newspaper: "It’s early days and they have been keeping things low-key, but there was no mistaking the spark between them."

Saoirse was up for the top actress award at the star-studded ceremony for her role in ‘Lady Bird’, but sadly lost out to ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ star Frances McDormand.

Calum attended the event with his actor brother Jack Lowden, who played fighter pilot Collins in ‘Dunkirk’.

Jack posted a picture of himself and Calum on Twitter from the spectacle, adding the caption: "Great night at Bafta with the brother. Thanks @LouisVuitton for the cool get up too. (sic)"

Saoirse recently picked Bruno Mars as her fantasy boyfriend over the likes of Drake and Chance the Rapper while playing a game on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’.

But when host Ellen pointed out he has a girlfriend, Jessica Caban, Saoirse joked: "Companionship is fine. Even just a friendship is fine. Even if we just email or have a correspondence."

The ‘Brooklyn’ star also claimed she isn’t great at dating.

She said: "I don’t know how to date … I don’t date, I’m not into the whole, ‘Let’s go out for dinner.’ "
