Drake’s first single

Drake launched the first single from his upcoming album Thank Me Later. He’s the Canadian rapper who made such a splash during the opening performance at the Grammy Awards.

The album will be released in May. It has been getting some buzz ever since Drake performed Best I Ever Had with Lil Wayne and Eminem at the Grammys.

Drake introduced Over yesterday (March 4) on Toronto’s Flow 93.5 FM. It is a song off his new album and the first single to be released.

The singer is also taking advantage of the viral nature of the Internet. Fans can go to his blog at octobersveryown.blogspot.com and download Over.

This week, Drake shot a video with Lil Wayne. It’s that rapper’s final days of freedom; he has to serve a one-year prison sentence for possessing an illegal weapon. He collaborated with Drake on Thank Me Later, along with Kanye West and Jay-Z.

Canadian rapper Drake on tour

Canadian rapper Drake is making a name for himself with the release of a mini-album, So Far Gone. His performance on the Grammy Awards with Lil Wayne and Eminem on January 31 got some great reviews. He is now heading out on a 25-concert mini-tour of the United States to promote his first complete solo album, Thank Me Later. It should be released some time in 2010, likely toward the end of March.

The Toronto rapper first got attention on the popular Degrassi: The Next Generation television series. His music career is now taking off and he has already collaborated with some big names, including Lil Wayne. He dreams of future collaborations with  Jay-Z, Kanye West, Andre 3000 and Kid Cudi.

The Away From Home tour will take the rapper through the eastern United States stopping in cities like Orlando, Boston and New Orleans. It starts April 6 in Charleston and ends a month later in Plymouth on May 8.

Drake album postponed?

Drake, the rapper who performed on stage at the Staples Center in L.A. with Eminem and Lil Wayne, is slow to release his first official album. He was nevertheless nominated in two categories at the Grammy Awards last night which saw Beyoncé run away with six trophies and Taylor Swift take home four, including Album of the Year.

The young rapper has released a few singles but no official debut album. He has already collaborated with some big names from Jay-Z to Lil Wayne and Eminem, and don’t forget Kanye West.

His first album, Thank Me Later, was scheduled for a March release but, when asked yesterday, Drake said recording is not yet finished. It is difficult to see how the album can be ready for March, given that January is already over.

It seems that the sudden arrival of a new project with Eminem is the source of this delay but nothing has been confirmed.

An All-Star Hip-Hop Collaboration

Forever, a new song born from a collaboration between four big names in hip-hop, has been released, reports Rolling Stone.

The song, lasting over 6 minutes, will feature in a documentary titled More Than a Game, starring basketball player LeBron James.

Forever was produced by Boi-1da, who also produced the Drake tune, Best I Ever Had.

Word has it that the four rappers plan to head to New York next month to film the video for their song, which will be directed by Hype Williams.

The soundtrack for More Than a Game will be released on September 29.

New Details on Jay-Z’s Album

With one month to go before the release of his album, Jay-Z has posted the disc’s track listing on his official Website, reports Rolling Stone.

Out of the 15 songs featured on the album, only three are sung by Jay-Z alone. The rest of the album features collaborations with several artists.

In addition to teaming up with Rihanna and Kanye West, Drake, Kid Cudi and Mr. Hudson, Blueprint 3 also includes artists Alicia Keys, Young Jeezy, Swizz Beatz and Pharrell.

Jay-Z’s new disc will be released on September 11, which comes exactly eight years after the release of Blueprint.

Drake Re-Releases Album

As announced at the beginning of summer, the singer has finally finished working on new arrangements for his So Far Gone mixtape, and will re-release the disc on September 15, reports Billboard.com.

The rapper revealed that the album would mostly be comprised of original songs, including Best I Ever Had and Successful. It will also feature a new tune called Fear, which will be found at the end of the album.

Rihanna And Drake Are Inseparable

The singer, who according to rumours has been dating rapper Aubrey "Drake" Graham for the last two months, were spotted together at a premier after-party for the film Year One at the Empire Hotel in New York Monday (June 15), reports FemaleFirst.
 
According to certain sources, Rihanna barely left the 22-year-old’s side as they flirted and cuddled before heading to the nearby Greenhouse nighclub.
 
A source said, "They were attached at the hip. They were definitely together, but really trying to be discreet."
