Ed Sheeran teams up with The Pokémon Company on ‘Celestial’ song

Ed Sheeran has partnered with The Pokémon Company to release a new song inspired by the massively popular monster-catching franchise.

On Twitter, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter confirmed that a new Pokémon-themed single, “Celestial,” will drop on September 29th. When Sheeran collaborated with The Pokémon Company last year on a special Pokémon Go performance, it was focused on existing, non-Pokémon-related songs. “Celestial,” however, directly leans into Sheeran’s love of the series.

He briefly teased “Celestial” earlier this week in a social media video offering a glimpse at his large Pokémon plushie collection. He also got a Squirtle tattoo in celebration of the song. As one Twitter user pointed out, Sheeran has even been publicly professing his love for Pokémon since at least 2011 when he described Pokémon Black as “wicked.”

It’s unclear exactly how Pokémon will factor into the song, but Sheeran did share a doodle of himself with a Pikachu on his shoulder in his tweet. Presumably, the music video will feature Pokémon visuals and other inspired flourishes, which is what we saw in previous Pokémon collab songs from the likes of Katy Perry and Post Malone.

Outside of Sheeran’s upcoming single, The Pokémon Company is gearing up for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which will launch on the Nintendo Switch on November 18th, 2022.

Ed Sheeran’s newt problem

Ed Sheeran’s plans to build a private chapel in his garden could be sunk – by newts.

The ‘Castle On The Hill’ singer sparked speculation he plans to marry fiancée Cherry Seaborn in the grounds of his Suffolk mansion after filing a planning application to build an idyllic retreat there.

But the building work would disrupt a collection of great crested newts living in his pond, according to The Sun newspaper.

Objections have been lodged against the chapel plans, amid claims the pond is home to one of the largest populations of the protected species in the area.

Critics are demanded a "full ecological survey" before the application progresses any further.

One objector claimed Ed had shown "total disregard to the local ecology" and the need to preserve the newts’ habitat.

The ‘Shape Of You’ singer will have to apply of a license from Natural England in order to proceed with any building work which is found to disturb the habitat of the protected newts.

Ed, 27, and his childhood sweetheart Cherry, 25, got engaged last year.

The singer is refusing to give anything away about his big day but it’s thought the couple were planning exchange vows at his home in Suffolk after he applied to have a chapel installed.

Public planning documents show Ed will not be hiring out the place of worship for weddings but does not rule out him holding his own nuptial there.

In the document the ‘Perfect’ songwriter says he needs to build the chapel as a private "retreat for contemplation and prayer."

He adds that high-profile house guests would use it to "regenerate their spiritual strength."

The planning application to build the chapel has been lodged in the name of Matthew Seaborn, Cherry’s architect father.

Officials at East Suffolk Council were expected to make a decision in April, before the issue of the newts came to light.

Meghan Trainor ‘dreams’ of being as popular Ed Sheeran

Meghan Trainor’s "dream" is to be as successful as Ed Sheeran.

The 24-year-old singer and songwriter has penned tracks for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Fifth Harmony and Jason Derulo and though it "breaks [her] heart" giving away the songs she’s written, she wants to be as prolific as the ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker, who has written for the likes of One Direction, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, she said: "I have a lot of extra songs from this album and it breaks my heart that we have to let some go. But I’m always looking out for new homes for them. My mum is on the mission, she’s like ‘Zara Larsson should sing this one!’"

"I’m always looking out for people to sing my songs, that’s the dream. To be like Ed Sheeran."

The ‘No Excuses’ singer admires Ed and his instinctive way of knowing how to craft a radio-friendly hit.

She explained: "He gets it. He gets what radio needs and what everyone wants and that’s something that I try to do too, thinking about how to make impressive music that translates on the radio but is also what the kids want to hear.

"There’s a lot of politics and rules for the radio, and streaming these days they’re like ‘Please keep it at this tempo because then it will play forever’ even if you don’t want to do that tempo. But Ed Sheeran gets it and when I heard Shape Of You come out I was like ‘well done. You got it’."

And although Meghan is influenced by Ed, she joked that she inspired him to release his popular ballad ‘Perfect’ after he thanked her for keeping "soulful" music alive.

She said: "And now this ballad – ‘Perfect’- at first I didn’t know because I thought it was too many words and I couldn’t remember it right away but after hearing it over and over on the radio, I’m like ‘Oh it’s perfectly written and that’s exactly what we need.’

"What’s crazy is I remember he came up to me and said ‘thanks for bringing soulful ballads back because I feel like I’m going to lose them’ and now I hear this song and I’m like ‘oooh, did I inspire you Ed Sheeran?’ [Laughs] I mean I didn’t at all, but maybe he had that song in his pocket and he was like, ‘let’s do this’."

Ed Sheeran makes cancer sufferer’s dream come true

Ed Sheeran made a terminally ill fan’s "dream come true" ahead of a concert in Australia.

The ‘Shape of You’ singer spent time with 36-year-old Sherie Hagger – who is battling stage 3 bowel cancer – before his performance in Adelaide last week and though their time together was a "blur", Sherie will treasure the moment forever.

She revealed on her blog: "I arrived at the venue at 5pm, with my Mum and two sisters. Considering all four of us had purchased tickets and were going together, it was unforgettable that we all experienced this together.

"At around 6pm the dream came true. I was in a small group of approximately 16 people, most of which were young children that are unwell, and their parents/guardians.

"We all had our own time with Ed, I can’t really tell you how long I spent with him, nor what we talked about, because it’s all such a blur. What I can tell you however, is that the way he comes across in the media, is exactly the way he is in real life.

"He’s normal, he’s down to earth, he’s humble, he’s kind, he’s everything I had expected – if not more – plus he genuinely loves his fans…

"It has taken me over a week to write this blog post because it has taken me this long to comprehend what actually happened… I ACTUALLY MET ED SHEERAN!!!! The memories will last forever and it felt beautiful to finally experience pure joy and happiness again. Thank you Ed xox (sic)"

And Sherie revealed the "humble and kind" star also showed his gratitude to the groups of fans who had queued for hours in the hope of getting a spot near the front of the stage by ensuring they were well fed.

She wrote: "At the Adelaide concert there were fans camping outside the venue for days in advance, to make sure they got prime position! Ed organised for pizzas to be delivered to them. That act of kindness toward his fans doesn’t even scrape the surface."

Before their meeting ended, Ed signed Sherie’s iPhone with the message, "Sherie! You’ve bloody got this. You legend! Ed (sic)."

Camila Cabello admits Ed Sheeran made her want to ‘experience love’

Camila Cabello says Ed Sheeran made her "want to experience love".

The 21-year-old singer-songwriter has revealed that her music career was, in part, inspired by Ed’s 2011 album ‘+’ – which featured hits such as ‘The A Team’ and ‘Lego House’ – and Camila even admitted the record fuelled her interest in romance, too.

She told The Dan Wootton Interview podcast: "This album, ‘+’, was the first album that made me really want to start taking my love for music seriously and it made me wanna pick up a guitar and write about love.

"And before I could even write about love, it made me want to experience love."

Camila is currently in a relationship with British dating guru Matthew Hussey.

And while the brunette beauty is trying to keep their burgeoning romance low-key, she’s admitted to being "really, really happy" at the moment.

Camila said: "I feel like I’ve never been happier. I have always been such a private person and the hardest thing about this industry has been letting go of that privacy.

"I need to keep some things mine for them to be special. Just to protect that."

Last year, Camila admitted she doesn’t want to expose too much of her personal life to the public.

But the former Fifth Harmony star also revealed her ambition of going backpacking around Europe and falling in love.

She shared: "I get why people are interested in my love life, but I don’t want to give people that piece of me because it is the most important part.

"Here’s my dream life: I want to make songs and have incredible experiences with people. I don’t want to be locked up in a hotel room and just do press and red carpets. That’s not the kind of life I want to live.

"I want to make music, but I also want to go on road trips with friends. I want to go backpacking around Europe. I want to meet a Spanish boy in Spain and fall in love."

Ed Sheeran makes fan’s dream come true

Ed Sheeran has vowed to try "his best" to write a song about disability at the request of a young fan.

Cal Shepherd, who is nine-years-old and suffers from cerebral palsy, travelled 800kms from New South Wales to Melbourne to meet the ‘Shape Of You’ hitmaker during his tour of Australia at the weekend, according to ABC news.

Ed, 27, met Cal, who is wheelchair bound and communicates through a speaking keyboard, and signed his ukulele.

A moving video shows them talking and sharing an emotional hug.

Cal said: "Hi, I’m Cal… It is awesome meeting you."

Ed crouched down to the boy’s level and replied: "It’s lovely to meet you too, Cal!"

Cal asked the singer: "On your next album, can you please write a song about disability, to let people know that we can do awesome things?"

Ed promised to "try my best".

Ed then lifted Cal out of his wheelchair and gave him a heart-warming embrace.

The Grammy-award winning star is currently on a record-breaking tour of Australia,

The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker broke the previous record held by Dire Straits since 1986 – who sold 950,000 concert tickets on one tour – with over one million fans splashing out to see him play.

James Corden wants Sir Paul McCartney on Carpool Karaoke

James Corden would love Sir Paul McCartney to be a guest on ‘Carpool Karaoke’.

The 39-year-old star has been joined by the likes of Will Smith, Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran in the popular musical segment on his ‘Late Late Show’ but he hasn’t yet been able to sign up the Beatles legend.

When asked who he would love to see take part in the show, James exclusively told BANG Showbiz at the UK premiere of his latest movie ‘Peter Rabbit’ at Vue Cinema in London’s Leicester Square on Sunday (03.11.18): "[Sir] Paul McCartney I think.

"He would be amazing."

If he does land Paul on the show, the ‘Hey Jude’ hitmaker will have to work hard to match the fun the host – who has children Max, six, Carey, three, and Charlotte, three months, with wife Julia – had when he enjoyed a musical car journey with Bruno Mars as James recently admitted he felt "depressed" when filming stopped because they’d had such a great time.

Asked who his favourite guest has been, James said recently: "I mean, it’s a bit like picking your children, you know what I mean? But in terms of the one I’ve enjoyed doing the most, I think it was probably Bruno. Like, I really, I got a bit depressed afterwards … Because I’d been looking forward to it for so long and I’m such a fan. When we were done, I was like, ‘Oh. I’m not gonna get to do that again,’ you know, and so that was incredible."

The hugely popular segment spawned a 16-episode series on Apple Music entitled ‘Carpool Karaoke: The Series’, and James "really enjoyed" getting to drive around with brand new guests, including Miley Cyrus and her family.

He added to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: "In terms of the ones that I really love, I really enjoyed the whole Cyrus family. So, it’s Miley, Noah, Billy Ray – everybody – all of them in a huge car. It’s really quite amazing. You really feel like you’re watching that family on a road trip, you know? And then Billy [singing] Metallica is hilarious. There’s so many. I’m so proud of it."

Ed Sheeran won’t perform at own wedding

Ed Sheeran thinks it would be a "little bit weird" to perform at his own wedding.

The ‘Shape Of You’ hitmaker’s songs are very popular among newlyweds because of the heartfelt lyrics and his soothing vocals, but he’s adamant he won’t be playing any of his tracks when he ties the knot with his childhood sweetheart Cherry Seaborn this year.

Speaking on Australia’s ‘The Kyle and Jackie O Show’, Ed – who is currently Down Under on tour – said when asked if he’d play his songs at his wedding: "It would be a little bit weird."

The 27-year-old singer sparked rumors him and Cherry – who got engaged last year – had already got hitched after he was spotted wearing a plain silver band on his ring finger.

He explained: "We didn’t get secretly married, no, she made me this ring out of silver clay, so we were both kinda wearing rings."

And the flame-haired hunk hopes the ring will throw people off scent so that no one – except their guests – will know when they officially became husband and wife.

He added: "It also means that nobody will know when we have got married."

Ed is refusing to give anything away about his big day but it’s thought the couple could exchange vows at his home in Suffolk as he has asked to have a chapel installed.

A source said recently: "Even though Ed is one of the world’s biggest stars he does like to do things privately, like his engagement.

"Having his wedding on his own land would mean they could celebrate their big day with just their nearest and dearest and then head back to the main house of a big party after."

It’s expected that East Suffolk Council will make a decision on the chapel in April, which could mean Ed and Cherry can tie the knot there this summer, if they wanted.

Ed Sheeran building chapel at his home

Ed Sheeran is reportedly building a chapel in the grounds of his Suffolk mansion – and it could be the site of his wedding.

The ‘Castle on a Hill’ singer – who recently revealed he had proposed to girlfriend Cherry Seaborn at the end of last year – is said to be planning a Saxon-style flint church at his home, prompting speculation he’s taken measures to ensure his nuptials are as private as possible.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Even though Ed is one of the world’s biggest stars he does like to do things privately, like his engagement.

"Having his wedding on his own land would mean they could celebrate their big day with just their nearest and dearest and then head back to the main house of a big party after."

The chapel – which would stand at 32ft tall according to plans – can host a congregation of 24, and it is being developed by architects who have previously worked on the likes of Windsor Castle.

It’s said the development is essential for Ed to give him a place to "retreat for contemplation and prayer", and for his famous house guests to "regenerate their spiritual strength".

It’s expected that East Suffolk Council will make a decision on the chapel in April, which could mean Ed and Cherry can tie the knot there this summer, if they wanted.

Cherry’s architect father Matthew Seaborn has lodged the planning application on the grounds of the property, which already features both an indoor and mobile swimming pool, a tree house, a gym and even a ‘man cave’.

The news comes after Ed revealed he will have a number of different bachelor parties before he ties the knot, and he’s quipped that one of the bashes could be staged at one of the inexpensive hotel and pub chain’s venues.

He shared: "There will be a few [stag dos] I think. I think there’s going to have to be a few … I’ll do a nice one with my dad and her dad."

Ed Sheeran chose takeaway with fiancee over BRITs after-party

Ed Sheeran opted for a takeaway with his fiancee Cherry Seaborn instead of a BRIT Awards after-party.

The 27-year-old pop megastar might have picked up the Global Success Award at the glitzy ceremony at London’s The O2 arena on Wednesday night (21.02.18), but instead of celebrating with his peers he opted for a quiet night in with his soon-to-be wife, unlike previous years where he’s partied until the early hours.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper about his plans to head straight home after the main event, he said: "Usually at the Brits I walk into the party and think, ‘I wish I’d just gone home and had a curry’.

"So tonight, that’s what I am doing."

The ‘Supermarket Flowers’ hitmaker revealed at the BRITs that his engagement ring has been handmade by Cherry.

Putting to bed speculation the couple had secretly married, he said: "I never saw why men didn’t wear engagement rings.

"It’s the same commitment either way.

"Cherry made it for me herself out of silver clay. I really like it."

And Ed might not need to order in takeaways in the future if he plans on testing out his new cooking equipment.

He said recently: "I find myself getting really excited about kitchen appliances now."

And he’ll soon have lots of space for new gear as Ed bought four houses next door to each other.

The ‘Shape of You’ songwriter splashed out on a farmhouse and adjoining land in Suffolk, East England for £895,000 in June 2012, and at the same time, he bought a 16th century Grade II listed property next door for £450,000.

Land Registry records have also revealed he then bought a four-bedroom detatched house for £925, 000 in September 2016, and in October bought a bungalow on the other side of his main house’s driveway for £525,000, fuelling speculation he’s building a super-estate for himself and new fiancee

One local resident said: "Ed is a super guy and really friendly. He is just a down to earth Suffolk boy at heart – so who can blame him for wanting to settle down here? It is a lovely part of the world.

"He has bought all the properties next door. I guess it means that there is nobody to complain if he plays his music too loudly."
