Netflix’s Love is Blind contestant wants to name baby after Elden Ring boss

During a recent episode of Netflix’s reality TV show Love is Blind, a contestant suggested he’d like to name his future kids “Godfrey” or “Godrick,” outing themselves as a big Elden Ring fan.

On Love is Blind, contestants have a short period of time to fall in love without seeing their future partner. If this sounds like a silly gimmick that often makes for boring reality TV, you’re on the right track. Despite this, Love is Blind remains one of Netflix’s most popular reality TV shows.

On this particular episode, the couple in question, Irina Solomonova and Zack Goytowski, recently got engaged on Love is Blind. They’re sitting on a beach, enjoying a dinner date, when Goytowski brings up what they could name their children, just after stating that Solomonova looks “kind of like Megan Fox.”

Then, out of nowhere, Goytowski suggests “Godfrey” and “Godrick” as possible names for their fictional offspring. In his defence, her name options aren’t much better and include “Zion” and “Gideon.” For a complete look at this important reality TV-Elden Ring crossover moment, check out the clip below:

For those who are unaware, Godfrey, The First Elden Lord and Godrick the Grafted, are two of Elden Ring’s most challenging bosses. Godfrey is a late-game boss you need to take down to push the Elden Ring’s story forward.

For the record, while reality TV is a guilty pleasure of mine, I’ve never been able to enjoy Netflix’s take on the genre. It always feels like it’s trying too hard and full producer-pushed plot lines. Yes, I know all reality TV is fake, but at least most TV shows (Vanderpump Rules, for example), take a page out of the WWE’s book and practice kayfabe.

Elden Ring expansion ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ is in development: Are you excited?

FromSoftware officially revealed the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring this week, and I’m incredibly excited.

The news was confirmed via tweets from both the Elden Ring and FromSoftware Twitter accounts, offering a glimpse at artwork from the expansion.

The image seems to show Miquella riding on Torrent, the Spectral Steed, and a dying Erdtree in the background.

We don’t know much, but YouTuber VaatiVidya outlines what to expect from the DLC with many of his speculations.

Even though we know little about the DLC so far, I’m hyped. I’m hoping this expansion is massive, though I also want FromSoftware to take its time with it. At The Game Awards, CD Projekt Red was able to win RPG of the year two years in a row (first with The Witcher 3 and then its Blood and Wine expansion), so I’m hoping Elden Ring can take the double crown as well.

Are you excited about the reveal of Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us on Twitter @MobileSyrup.

FromSoftware announces Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree

It’s time to return to the Lands Between with a new Elden Ring expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.

FromSoftware and Bandai Namco haven’t shared much about the upcoming DLC, simply tweeting that it’s “currently in development” alongside concept art.

We can see in the image what looks like a dying or corrupted Erdtree in the background. There also seems to be a steed that resembles Torrent that’s being ridden by a blonde character. The character may be Miquella, Queen Marika, or even Melina with longer hair if some time has passed.

The official Japanese site confirms that the DLC will be coming to all versions of Elden Ring, including PS4, PS5, Windows PC via Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. FromSoftware also states it’ll be some time before they share more, so a release in the coming months doesn’t seem likely.

Elden Ring streamer plays game with just her brain

Twitch streamer Perrikaryal played Elden Ring in a way most would never suspect.

The streamer played the game entirely hands-free thanks to 14 black sensors attached to her scalp through an electroencephalogram (EEG) device.

Perri says she linked brain activity to specific key binds, allowing her to control the ultra-difficult title with only her mind.

She even says words like “heal” and “attack” to perform certain moves. As shared by Jake Lucky, an esports reporter, Perri says different actions to help her think the correct thought, pushing brain activity to the EEG bound to different abilities.

This isn’t something anyone can do, however.

According to Kotaku, which spoke to Ph.D. candidate Cody Cao, EEG technology isn’t 100 percent accurate. Instead, you’re only getting about 60 to 70 percent accuracy compared to the 90 to 100 percent you receive when playing a game with a controller.

“It takes algorithms a lot of training to get to acceptable performance. They likely need to experience a lot of different examples of the same thing (like Perri saying ‘attack’ before attacking) to be able to account for a vast majority of attacks,” Cao said to Kotaku in an interview. “It’s like FaceID on your iPhone — it gets better with the more examples it sees.”

Perri points out that they’re trying to bring EEG usage to the general public’s attention, given it has a variety of applications, including helping those with disabilities.

PvP modes are coming to Elden Ring on December 7th

Elden Ring is finally bringing a PVP arena to the Lands Between. While most players knew it’d eventually happen since the game has always had colosseums that you couldn’t enter, it’s taken months for it to come to fruition.

The new PVP mode launches on December 7th on all platforms.

FromSoftware’s recent patch added separate damage scaling for PvP weapons, spells, shields and others, which means now the single player can be adjusted separately from the PVP gameplay.

The Game Awards will be streaming live on December 8th, where many fans, like myself, are hoping for news regarding an Elden Ring expansion. While FromSoft’s previous title, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, didn’t have DLCs, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 did; therefore, more content coming to Elden Ring isn’t impossible.

Elden Ring is $30 off in stores for Black Friday

One of the best games of the year, Elden Ring, is now available for $30 off.

FromSoftware’s epic role-playing game has a 96 on Metacritic and has received praise from the gaming community as a whole. It’s also up for Game of the Year at The Game Awards.

Elden Ring came out in January, and this top-rated game is now on sale.  Unfortunately, if you’re like me with a digital-only console, you won’t be able to take advantage of this sale. The game isn’t on sale in either the PlayStation or Xbox stores, and it’s not discounted on Steam either.

You can grab it for $49.99 instead of its regular price of $79.99. Below are all of the retailers where Elden Ring is on sale:

Elon Musk says Elden Ring is Game of the Year, despite sucking at it

On Monday, The Game Awards 2022 nominees were revealed, and now, Elon Musk has weighed in on which title is his favourite.

In response to a tweet from artist WLOP calling for Elden Ring to win the coveted ‘Game of the Year’ award, Musk said “definitely.”

After Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan asked Musk if he’d finished Elden Ring, the Tesla CEO said “Yes, although it seemed almost impossible at times.”

Musk added in a follow-up tweet that Malenia, one of the open-world action-RPG’s most notoriously difficult late-game bosses, was “next-level intense.”

Of course, this raises a few questions. First, it’s unclear whether Musk has actually beaten the game, given that he didn’t attach any proof. Considering Musk has hilariously been fact-checked by both Twitter employees and the platform itself, who’s to say he’s not lying about this, too.

There’s also the fact that Musk has proven himself to be inept at Elden Ring. Back in May, Elon Musk shared his Elden Ring character build on Twitter, seemingly as one of his many attempts to come off as cool. Naturally, though, it backfired. People quickly pointed out how he was needlessly adding excess weight to his character, thus encumbering his movement and making an already challenging game more difficult. Given such a fundamental misunderstanding of the game’s core mechanics, it’s hard to imagine Musk getting too far in the game, let alone completing it.

In any event, Musk should have even less free time for games than he did months ago. Earlier this week, he claimed that he will sleep at Twitter headquarters “until the org is fixed.” That’s a tall order, though, given how much damage he’s already done to the platform in such a short time. Whether it’s driving hate speech to increase, laying off many people (including content moderators and those who dare to criticize him), driving advertisers en masse off the platform, completely destroying the verification process or tweeting fake news about an attempted political assassination, Musk’s early days as Twitter chief have been quite messy.

But hey, “free speech,” right?

Elden Ring soundtrack hits Spotify, Apple Music and more

Elden Ring’s fantastic music soundtrack is now available to stream online.

FromSoftware’s title now has an album that includes the 67 tracks that were composed for the game. You can find them all on YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and more.

The news of the Elden Ring soundtrack was shared on a PlayStation Blog. The blog was written by Tsukasa Saito, the lead sound designer and composer from FromSoftware.

Saito explains that the track Song of Honor that plays at Redmane Castle sounds like a group of choir members; however, the team thought that they didn’t want a group of skillful singers, so they made the decision to ask the brass section of the orchestra to sing for them instead. This is pretty interesting.
