Tiny Dancer : Britney Spears rewrites Elton John’s song

Britney Spears is about to bounce back to the forefront of pop with the collaboration of Elton John.

You’ll have to relearn the lyrics to Elton John’s song Tiny Dancer because Britney Spears is rewriting the lyrics of the hit song for a duet with the singer, The Sun reported.

The song will be called Hold me closer and will be Britney’s first single in six years. However, the new song will not be a cover of Tiny Dancer as such. It will feature tracks from other Elton John hits, such as The One a single from 1992.

The idea behind the project is a bit like the one that formed the song Cold Heart with Dua Lipa, which gave the singer his very first #1 hit in the UK in 16 years.

The song includes elements of his hits Rocket Man, Sacrifice and Kiss the bride in addition to Where’s the Shoorah from his 1976 album.

A source told The Sun that “Elton has helped many artists over the years, publicly and privately, and he was aware of Britney’s battle with her guardianship.”

“They’ve known each other for years, with Elton often inviting her to his legendary post-Oscar parties. He sincerely wants the best for her and to hear them in a song together is wonderful,” he added.

One thing is for sure, the song will be a mega hit!

Rod Stewart jokingly teases friend Elton John over retirement

Sir Rod Stewart has teased his friend Sir Elton John over his retirement tour.

The ‘Maggie May’ hitmaker sent an email to lovingly mock his long-time pal – who announced in January he’ll be turning his back on live performances after a final tour of 300-plus concerts over three years.

Rod, 73, insists if he ever decides to call time on his career he won’t use his retirement to try and create interest.

Asked about Elton’s retirement, Rod said: "I did email her and said, ‘What? Again, dear?’ I didn’t hear anything back.

"I have never spoken about retirement. If I do retire, I won’t make an announcement, I’ll just fade away. I don’t think it’s a big deal, ‘I’m going to retire.’ It stinks of selling tickets."

But Cyndi Lauper, who is to embark on a joint US tour with Rod in June, thought it sounded like a good ploy.

In a joint appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’, she said: "That’s not a bad idea. We could say, ‘For the last time, we’re retiring.’ Then one more time. ‘Well, maybe the second to last time.’ "

However, Rod replied: "It’s dishonest. It’s not rock ‘n’ roll."

Earlier this month, Elton, 70, had an issue with a fan who put his hands on his piano and kept trying to take a photo of him after he invited a group of audience members to join him on stage as he performed his hit ‘Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting’ at a Las Vegas show.

Elton left the stage after becoming frustrated with this "disruptive" reveler and Rod completely understands why his pal got annoyed.

The ‘Maggie May’ hitmaker – who often invites fans to join him on stage during his concerts – said: "I sort of understand it. I don’t mind it, I love people coming up on stage, it’s a laugh but I can see why he got p***ed off with it.

"I’ve been up on stage and had people coming up and nearly knock my teeth out, take my trousers off, I love it."

Ellie Goulding to attend Prince Harry’s wedding

Ellie Goulding will attend Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle.

The ‘Love Me Like You Do’ hitmaker – who sang at the reception of the prince’s brother, Prince William to Duchess Catherine in 2010 – will reportedly be in attendance at her old friend’s nuptials at Windsor Castle in May, and will be accompanied by her boyfriend Caspar Jopling, 26.

The 31-year-old singer was rumored to have shared a kiss with Harry after a polo match in June 2016, and she’ll join two of his other former lovers, Chelsy Davy, 32, and Cressida Bonas, 29, in receiving an invitation to his big day.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Ellie has stayed good pals with Harry and is obviously really excited.

"She has no plans to perform this time but just wants to celebrate her friend’s marriage.

"Princess Eugenie’s also a close friend, so she’ll fit right in."

Other celebrity guests expected to be at the funeral include Sir Elton John, who famously sang at the funeral of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, and the Spice Girls.

Mel B recently claimed the reunited girl band will be performing at the wedding.

She said: "I’m going. I don’t know if I should’ve said that. Us five Spice Girls did [get an invitation]. Why am I so honest?"

Mel wouldn’t divulge what the invitations to the big day looked like as she felt that was "too personal", but talk quickly moved on to whether or not the band would be performing at the reception after Prince Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, have officially tied the knot.

The star didn’t verbally confirm the news, but once the question was asked she threw her cue cards into the air, which prompted the show’s hosts to cheer.

Mel then added: "I swear I’m just … I need to go, I’m going to be fired. I’m gonna be fired."

However, her bandmate Mel C, later insisted her pal was joking.

She said: "I’ve met [Harry’s dad] Prince Charles lots of times. I’m going to ask him where my invite is because I haven’t got mine yet, obviously Mel B said she has hers. I think Mel was just kind of having a bit of a joke. There are no plans to go to the wedding at the moment."

Michelle Keegan pushed Mark Wright to pursue American dream

Michelle Keegan urged her husband Mark Wright to pursue a career in America.

The 30-year-old actress sat down with her spouse – who is now a presenter on ‘EXTRA’ in the US – last year before she decided to sign on for a new series of ‘Our Girl’, which meant being abroad for eight months, to discuss their options and she suggested he spent the time following his dreams Stateside.

Speaking to the new issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, she said: "Before I went to South Africa last April, we were sat in the gym car park and he was asking how long [I’d be away for]. I said, ‘What do you want to do?’ He said, ‘I don’t know.’ And I said, ‘When I’m away, why don’t you do to America?’ He had an agent here. So he did – and look what’s happened. It’s unbelievable."

The former ‘Coronation Street’ actress is very proud of Mark’s achievements, but can’t believe he doesn’t get more star-struck when he’s interviewing big-name stars like Sir Elton John, Liam Neeson and Kim Kardashian West.

She said: "He met Kevin Costner the other day. I was like, ‘Oh my God, how was it?’ He said, ‘Yeah, alright. Have you had any lunch?’ "

But Michelle has found the scrutiny she and former ‘TOWIE’ star Mark, 31, have come under while she’s been spending time with him in Los Angeles hard to deal with.

She said: "I hate all that stuff. I get anxious over it because I can’t see [the photographers]. I find it intrusive but I do know that it comes with the job. Because it’s been every day, it’s difficult. They are literally outside the house, parked up."

Mark recently admitted he would quit his job if his wife asked him to.

He said: "Yes I miss [Michelle], yes she misses me. Right now we make sure we see each other as much as we can.

"I mean if Michelle didn’t like living here and she wanted me to move home and she preferred life back home, then for sure I would [move back to the UK]. That comes first. It’s not going to come to that, but if it ever did, then yes of course, marriage and my love life is definitely first."

Elton John loves Miley Cyrus

Sir Elton John has "always loved" Miley Cyrus because she’s "feisty".

The 70-year-old singer took to the stage at the Grammy Awards in New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday (01.28.18) with the ‘Wrecking Ball hitmaker’ for a duet on his classic single ‘Tiny Dancer’ and he admitted the 25-year-old singer was top of his list for a collaboration.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, he told E! News’ Ryan Seacrest: "I’ve always loved her. I like those are my kind of women. I like my women to be strong, and I like my women to be feisty, and she’s certainly all that, and she can sing.

"So it’s great to finally be able to work with her."

The ‘Rocket Man’ hitmaker – who has sons Zachary, seven, and Elijah, five, with husband David Furnish – announced last week he is to retire from touring after a final three-year jaunt on the road and he’s "really looking forward" to the performances.

He said: "There’s 300 shows, and it will be about three years. I might do a hundred shows a year anyway when I’m working. But I’m really looking forward to it. to it – looking forward to starting it, because it will be such a great production, and I’m looking forward to finishing it, so I can spend time with my boys."

But Elton insisted he isn’t getting emotional about the end of the tour just yet.

Asked how he’ll feel afterwards, he quipped: "I don’t know. I don’t look ahead.

"I’m just looking forward to show one, then ask me when we do show 300,OK?"

But his husband admitted he’s already feeling "really emotional" about the end.

David said: "Really emotional and bittersweet, it’s drawing a curtain over something that’s been extraordinary.

"But also wonderful to have him home with the family more."

Kesha steals Grammys with emotional performance

Kesha stole the show with her emotional performance of ‘Praying’ at this year’s Grammy Awards.

The 30-year-old singer was joined on stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday (01.28.18) by Andra Day, Camilla Cabello, Cyndi Lauper, Bebe Rexha, Julia Michaels and the Resistance Revival Chorus for a performance of her hit single, with the group dressed in white to echo the white roses worn to the event by those supporting the anti-harassment Time’s Up initiative.

Kesha was visibly emotional and fought back tears as she sang the track, which is about the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of producer Dr. Luke.

And afterwards, she tweeted: " "after everything you’ve done I can thank you for how strong I have become" thank you to the @RecordingAcad, the women on stage with me tonight, and everyone who has supported me through this whole journey.(sic)"

Singer Janelle Monae had introduced the performance with a call for equality in the music industry.

She said: "We come in peace, but we mean business. And to those who would dare try to silence us, we offer you two words: Time’s Up.

"We say time’s up for pay inequality, time’s up for discrimination, time’s up for harassment of any kind, time’s up for abuse of power. We also have the power to undo the culture that does not serve us well. It’s not just going on in Hollywood, it’s not just going on in Washington, it’s going on in our industry."

Elsewhere during the event, Kendrick Lamar received a standing ovation for his performance, which saw him open the show with a medley of his hits including ‘XXX’ and ‘King’s Dead’.

Kendrick – who won five Grammys – was accompanied by U2’s Bono and The Edge, as well as comedian Dave Chapelle, and had a giant American flag and dancers wearing hoodies who collapsed to the sound of gunshots.

Dave said of the performance: "I just wanted to remind the audience that the only thing more frightening than watching a black man being honest in America, is being an honest black man in America."

Eric Church, Maren Morris and Brothers Osborne teamed up for an emotional tribute, singing ‘Tears in Heaven’ in honor of the music fans who lost their lives during the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas in October and the terrorist attack at Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester, North West England, last May.

Chris Stapleton and Emmylou Harris paid tribute to the late Tom Petty, who passed away in October, by performing ‘Wildflowers’. Their performance also served as a memorial to others from the music world who lost their lives last September, with a montage of artists including Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Don Williams, Hugh Masekala, Jerry Lewis, Prodigy, Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington airing during the segment.

Sir Elton John, who announced his retirement from touring last week, was joined by Miley Cyrus for a duet of his classic single ‘Tiny Dancer’, and the night’s big winner, Bruno Mars, teamed up with Cardi B for a rendition of ‘Finesse’, while Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Pink, Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee and Little Big Town were among the other artists to perform during the show.

Elton John worries about ‘disturbing’ times

Sir Elton John thinks the sexual misconduct scandal has led to a "disturbing" time.

The 70-year-old musician insists he is a supporter of the #MeToo movement – which has seen people come forward on social media about their experiences of harassment and sexual assault – but he is worried that people are being presumed guilty without having gone through "due process", leading to situations such as Kevin Spacey being axed from ‘House of Cards’ and replaced in ‘All the Money in the World’ and Ed Westwick being removed from ‘Ordeal By Innocence’ because of allegations against them.

He said: "We live in a funny time, a disturbing time at the moment, when people are accusing people of doing this and that.

"I don’t agree with people being accused of something and not having due process, I think that’s bad.

"I think people who have been accused of something shouldn’t be dropped from [a] television series until they are proved to be guilty.

"But on the other hand, I can understand how women have been abused since time began.

"It’s all happened because of Harvey Weinstein, quite rightly so."

After the Golden Globe awards this year was hit by a mass protest of stars wearing black in solidarity for the Time’s Up anti-harassment campaign, with a number of actresses hitting out in their acceptance speeches, the ‘Tiny Dancer’ hitmaker is looking forward to seeing how the issue is addressed by attendees at this weekend’s Grammy awards.

He told CNN: "It’s going to be interesting, to see what people say, what they do."

Elton also spoke out in praise of the women who have called attention to the gender pay gap.

He said: "I think that is a big thing and it’s happening in England. A lot and people are saying, ‘I’m only getting paid this and he’s getting paid that.’

"I think women have had it bad for a long time and they are trying to sort it out and make it better for themselves."

Meanwhile, the ‘Rocket Man’ singer – son has sons Zachary, seven, and five-year-old Elijah with husband David Furnish – was previously accused of battery, sexual battery and sexual harassment by a former security guard.

Elton strongly denied the accusations in the 2016 lawsuit – which included "unwelcomed and offensive touching and groping" – and the case was eventually dropped.

Jack Whitehall set to host Brit Awards 2018

Jack Whitehall is to host the Brit Awards in 2018.

The 29-year-old comedian was among the contenders lined up to present the annual awards ceremony earlier this year after singer Michael Buble was forced to pull out following his son’s cancer diagnosis, but the coveted job eventually went to Dermot O’Leary and Emma Willis.

Now though, the ‘Bad Education star has been given his chance to host the event and he is "thrilled" to be master of ceremonies, describing the Brits as "the kind of show you dream of hosting as a kid, so [I’m] really excited to have been asked".

Brit Awards chairman Jason Iley said the ‘Fresh Meat’ star – who previously presented an award with Jessie J in 2012 – is expected to bring his "enormous enthusiasm, charisma, fun and passion" to the show.

The Brits 2018 will be held at London’s O2 Arena on 21 February, celebrating the biggest successes in pop over the past year.

The panel have just begun voting and nominations will be announced in January, with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa and Rag N Bone Man all expected to feature.

R&B singer Jorja Smith has already been announced as the winner of the Critics’ Choice prize, which recognises emerging talent and in the past has gone to the likes of Adele, Ellie Goulding and Sam Smith.

The 2018 Brit statuettes will be designed by artist Anish Kapoor.

Past hosts have included Russell Brand, The Osbourne family, Sir Elton John and infamously former Page 3 girl Samantha Fox with Mick Fleetwood in 1989.

James Corden won critical acclaim for his hosting skills in 2011 and is the only person to have hosted the ceremony five times, including his joint-hosting with Mat Horne and Kylie Minogue in 2009.

Sir Elton John pays tribute to his mother during concert

Sir Elton John paid a tribute to his mother Sheila at his first concert since her death.

The 70-year-old music icon lost his 92-year-old mother on Monday (12.04.17), and dedicated his rendition of ‘Your Song’ to her as he played in Hamburg, Germany, on Tuesday (12.05.17).

He told the audience: "Yesterday was a sad and hard day for me because my mother passed away.

"I’m glad to say she passed away peacefully, with no pain. But maybe sooner than she should have done, so I was quite shocked."

Sir Elton revealed he’d been contemplating how he could pay tribute to his mother prior to the show.

Explaining his song choice, he said: "I was thinking how I could pay tribute to her tonight, and what song I should choose.

"Well, this next song I wrote at her house or her apartment. I can remember every single minute of writing this song with Bernie [Taupin].

"So this is the song I want to dedicate to her. And it’s taken me from nowhere to somewhere. So thank you, mum."

Sir Elton was Sheila’s only son and she played a major role in his career success, encouraging the chart-topping star to play the piano from the age of three.

But in recent years, their relationship had been turbulent, with Sir Elton asking his mother to distance herself from two old friends, Bob Halley and John Reid.

The duo fell out when she refused, but they eventually reconciled on her 90th birthday and spent some quality time together last week, prior to Sheila’s sudden passing.

Sir Elton informed his fans of her death on Facebook.

Alongside a picture of them together, he wrote: "So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning.

"I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock. Travel safe, mum. Thank you for everything."
