Jimmy Choo Supports a Good Cause

The high-end accessories label has teamed with the Elton John AIDS Foundation to launch a capsule collection, for which 25% of the sales will go towards financing the Simelela Rape Centre in South Africa, reports FashionMag.fr.

Jimmy Choo has been supporting the AIDS prevention cause since 2005. The company organised a shoe auction to raise funds to finance the creation of the Simelela Rape Centre in Cape Town. The facility was built with the goal of helping rape victims by offering them PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) to reduce the risks of HIV contamination. It also offers aid and legal support to rape victims.

The Project PEP line by Jimmy Choo includes tote bags, ballerina flats and flip flops. The items will be offered in limited edition, and can be found in the brand’s boutiques worldwide starting November.

Elton John Helps Eminem

Eminem, who was very candid about his drug dependency in his interviews with XXL and Vibe magazines, has also revealed to the Detroit Metro Times that a famous star helped him during his rehabilitation.

"I talk to Elton [John] a lot. We became friends, and I talk to him about things, career-wise," Eminem said. "And he had a substance-abuse problem in the past. So when I first wanted to get sober, I called him and spoke to him about it, because, you know, he’s somebody who’s in the business and can identify and relate to the lifestyle and how hectic things can be. He understands, like, the pressure and any other reasons that you wanna come up with for doing drugs."

The two performed the song Stan together at the 2001 Grammys as a way for Eminmen, who denounced homosexuality in his songs, to reconcile with his fans.

Elton John has been openly gay for close to 20 years.

Simon Cowell Not a Victim of the Recession

The American Idol and Britain”s Got Talent judge is one of the few people whose wallet is getting fatter while the economy plummets.

He is now 7% richer than he was last year. His net fortune is valued at $175.2 million, according to the Sunday Times list of the richest Brits in the music industry.

Paul McCartney comes in third place, but his fortune has fallen from $730 to 642.4 million. Elton John saw his net value decrease by 26%, while Mick Jagger lost 16%, and Sting, 10%.

Amy Winehouse’s fortune was severed in half, due to not releasing any new material recently.

New to the list this year is Duffy, who is worth $5.86 million.

A Road to Honour Elton John

London plans to honour one of its most famous residents, Sir Elton John, by giving a street his name. 

A local programme is working on celebrating local heroes.  Susan Hall, the vice president of the council, truly admires the singer and musician. "He is a real showman. He came from humble beginnings and it shows that if you have talent and drive you can become as famous as him," explained Hall.

Other names being considered for such an honour are Simon Le Bon and Billy Idol.

The two musician friends recently announced their plans for a tour, where fans will get to hear two artists for the price of one.
 
Elton John explained, "Billy and I will go out next year for at least two years on and off. All over the world. It’s something I’ve looked forward to for a long time. I love touring with him. We’re both such good friends."

Heidi Klum Poses for Got Milk?

Heidi Klum is the latest celebrity to endorse America’s Got Milk? ad campaign, reports FemaleFirst.

By signing with the campaign, the model is following in the footsteps of other celebrities, including Angelina Jolie, Elle Macpherson, Gisele Bündchen and Elton John.

Klum will be seen posing in a traditional Bavarian outfit with a milk cow.

The advertisement is set to air for the first time around Halloween.

Elton John Shops in Montreal

Elton John took advantage of a short stopover in Montreal on Monday (September 29) to shop at the luxurious store, Holt Renfrew, on Sherbrooke Street.

The singer, who was on his way to give a concert in Saint John, New Brunswick, Monday night, made a stop in the metropolis where he was seen at Holt Renfrew at 2:00pm.

John was accompanied by his body guards and spent half an hour in the store, buying close to $30 000 worth of merchandise.

According to an eyewitness, the singer tried nothing on and pointed his finger at whatever he wanted to purchase.

In addition to clothing, he bought scarves, accessories and t-shirts by Dom Rebel, a Montreal brand.

The singer seemed to be in a hurry. He was wearing a jacket, minus his signature fashion statement, the sunglasses. He didn’t have time to sign any autographs.

An Elton John and Killers Song

The site NME.com reports that Elton John will record the song Joseph, Better You Than Me with The Killers, being released just in time for the holidays.

The exact date when the song drops is unknown, however we know that the song will appear on the band’s next album, Day And Age, hitting music store shelves on November 24.

Joseph, Better You Than Me is the third single that Brandon Flowers and his band have released around Christmas time. In 2006, they sang Shoot Me Santa, which could be downloaded for charity.

In addition to the new Christmas song, The Killers are going to give a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London on November 3 .

No Collaborations for Elton John and Lily Allen

Elton John has changed his mind about working with Lily Allen, following their verbal sparring at the GQ Awards on September 2, reports NME.com.

The two stars, who co-hosted the event, exchanged several insults in front of the crowd during the evening.  Now the singer says that he isn’t interested in pursuing a collaboration with the young songstress.  Elton said, "I was thinking about asking her to tour with me and maybe even do a duet. Obviously that won’t be happening."

Lily Allen Explains Herself

While the public spat between the 23-year-old singer and Elton John shocked the attendees gathered at the GQ Awards, Lily Allen published her justification for her obnoxious behaviour.

The star humbly admitted to having abused the free champagne offered that night when she dropped insults on the 61-year-old music icon.

Fortunately, it seems that Elton John is not holding any grudges against her. Allen wrote, "Elton and I exchanged jokes and there were no hard feelings at all, infact neither of us gave it a second thought. It’s sad that an evening enjoyed by all had to ruined by some bitter journos again."
