Elton John to join Glee club?

If the rumors are true, legendary British musician Elton John might be making an appearance in the hit TV series Glee. From an October magazine interview to Oscar night, everyone’s talking about the Rocket Man singer and Glee.

In October, in an interview with Parade magazine John said worked on Glee actor Matthew Morrison’s debut album.“I just did it! It’s a duet. It’s great, really fantastic. He sings great on it. It’s a medley of ‘Mona Lisas and Madhatters’ going into ‘Rocket Man.’ I did it on Monday.”

John has also mentioned he’s a big fan of the show: "I love Glee! I would love to be on Glee, but you have to be asked to be on Glee."

Later in an interview with People magazine, Matthew Morrison mentioned John’s collaboration.

"It was supposed to be a secret that he was going to be on my album, but he’s kind of telling everyone. So I guess we can talk about it. He’s just the most loving man, and we had the best time. He was so giving and so supportive. We just had a ball."

Morrison also suggested that John should work with Jane Lynch who plays coach Sue Sylvester.  "He should do something with Jane Lynch. I think he should maybe play her boyfriend or some kind of love interest for her. I think that would be funny."

At the 19th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, Glee star Jane Lynch told Access Hollywood that she encouraged John to join Glee club.

“I did. I said, ‘You should be on it!’ And he said he and Ryan [Murphy, ‘Glee’s’ co-creator] just had coffee or something and they talked about that, so that would be really fun.”

Lady Gaga duet with Elton John

Although she probably has one of the busiest schedules in show business, Lady Gaga was pleased to accept when British musician Elton John asked her if she wanted to sing the duet Hello, Hello with him for the soundtrack of animated film Gnomeo & Juliet, reports MTV News.

With a planned release of February 8, this will be Lady Gaga’s first film soundtrack while veteran pop star, Elton John, 63, previously shared the Academy Award for Best Original Song with Tim Rice for Can You Feel the Love Tonight from The Lion King soundtrack.

John told Access Hollywood: "I told her about the song, and she said, ‘I’d love to do it,’ and she did it. We’re just so thrilled she took time out of her incredibly busy schedule to do it."

He said Gaga put her own spin on the pop tune, "She had fun with it and changed it a little bit and brought her own personality to it, so she gave Juliet that personality.”

Another other duet on the soundtrack is sung by Elton John and Canadian Nelly Furtado.

John is one of the producers of the children’s movie about rival clans of garden gnomes who live in adjacent gardens and only come to life when no humans are around. Lead roles are voiced by James McAvoy, and Emily Blunt.

Gnomeo & Juliet will be released in theaters on February 11.

Elton John royal wedding singer?

British singer Sir Elton John has hinted he could play a role as a royal wedding singer next year, reports thisislondon.co.uk.

A favourite of Prince William’s late mother, Diana – Princess of Wales, Sir John performed a special version of his song Candle in the Wind at her funeral, which went on to become the biggest selling single in UK history as it tapped into the nation’s grief.

Last week, Prince William and his girlfriend, Kate Middleton, announced their engagement and, this week, have set the date for their spring wedding on Friday, April 29 at Westminster Abbey.

Prime Minister David Cameron confirmed that April 29 would be a public holiday, so Britons can enjoy a four-day holiday over the May Day weekend.

When Radio 2 presenter Steve Wright asked Sir Elton whether he would perform at the wedding, he replied: "I probably am."

But he then quickly joked: "I’ll probably be busking outside." John’s latest and thirtieth studio album, The Union, was released last month, and is a collaboration with Leon Russell.

Eminem and Elton John on top

Entertainment Weekly put together a list of the most surprising duets in music history. Leading the pack is a duet by Eminem and Elton John at the 2001 Grammy Awards.

The duo performed Eminem’s song Stan at a time when the rapper was receiving flak for anti-gay comments. His performance with the openly gay Elton John raised more than a few eyebrows.

Second place on the EW list goes to Run DMC and Aerosmith’s rap-rock rendition of Walk This Way. It was a popular song that got lots of radio play in 1986.

Dusty Springfield’s duet with the Pet Shop Boys rounds out the top three. Their performance of What Have I Done to Deserve This was a hit in 1987.

Other duets to make the list include Bing Crosby and David Bowie (Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy), Nick Cave with Kylie Minogue (Where The Wild Roses Go) and The KLF featuring Tammy Wynette (Justified and Ancient).

Elton John to stage George Orwell’s Animal Farm

George Orwell’s Animal Farm is an allegory that transposes Communism to life on a farm. The author wrote the novel to demonstrate his conviction that though post WW 2 Eastern-Bloc Communism had value in theory, the system eventually only benefitted the ruling elite.

The novel was released in 1945, three years before his most famous novel, 1984, helped to educate people once again about long-term about the consequences of the Communist regime.

Animal Farm will be the centerpiece of a new musical by Elton John, with lyrics by  the work of Lee Hall.

The two will work together for the second time ; they first teamed up for musical inspired by the hit movie Billy Elliot.

In the 1970s, David Bowie wanted to make a musical of the novel 1984, Orwell, but the writer’s estate denied him the rights to the book.

Elton John takes cover

The pop singer is making his first ever covers album. He talked about the new project with the Sunday Express: "I’m going to do a solo album with T-Bone Burnett of 50 songs with an orchestra, in a few takes. A bit of Roy Orbison, Ricky Nelson…"

John told the newspaper how the U.S. record company asked him to do a Christmas album and a Motown one too. His response: "F**k off!"

Elton John is happy where he is right now. He explained last week: "In the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, the record companies said you had to have a single. I think I’ve fulfilled my brief. I don’t have to make pop records any more. The singles chart is not one I’m going to be in very often any more, so my view is to make records that fit my age."

With a string of hits including Rocket Man, Bennie & The Jets, Candle in the Wind and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Sir Elton John has earned his place in pop music history.
