RB Tony Pollard makes his decision with Cowboys

Tony Pollard is now the main running back with the Dallas Cowboys following the departure of Ezekiel Elliott, especially after his breakout season in 2022.

The Cowboys made the call to place the franchise tag on Pollard earlier this month, and now Pollard has decided to sign.

According to multiple reports, Pollard has officially signed his franchise tag with the team, and is due $10.091 million this year. He and the Cowboys will have until mid-July to work out a long term deal.

Last season, Pollard racked up 1,007 yards with nine touchdowns on 193 attempts while making $965,000 in what was the final year of his four year deal.

Even more bad news for Ezekiel Elliott

The Dallas Cowboys made the call to part ways with running back Ezekiel Elliott, who they made their 1st round draft selection out of Ohio State University in 2016. And according to reports, Elliott has allegedly narrowed down his “wish list” to three teams: the Bengals, Eagles, and Jets.

However, the bad news for Elliott is that none of those teams appear to be interesting in his services.

According to Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, he apparently wasn’t even aware that Elliott was eying the Bengals.

“There’s a lot of great players that are available right now,” Taylor said. “We like our team as where it’s at right now. But it’s always funny when things get thrown around. Sometimes, it’s the first you hear of it. But that’s just the way life works.”

Meanwhile, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia, the “Eagles have not engaged in conversations” with the former division rival running back, and they “are happy with the running backs they have now.”

What’s more, the Seahawks have yet to comment on any potential interest in Elliott.

The 27 year old running back racked up career lows in 2022 in rushing attempts (231), rush yards (876) and rushing average (3.8). He departs Dallas third all time in team history in rushing yards behind that of Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorset.

McCarthy: Door is open for Ezekiel Elliott return

The Dallas Cowboys decided to part ways with 2016 1st round draft pick Ezekiel Elliott earlier this month after the popular running back posted career low numbers in 2022 of only 876 yards and 12 total touchdowns. While the move was met with varying reactions from the Cowboys fan base, quarterback Dak Prescott and owner/general manager Jerry Jones didn’t make any secret that it was a difficult decision.

Head coach Mike McCarthy said the same, saying nobody felt good about releasing the longtime Cowboys player.

“You know, no one felt good about that,” he said. “I mean, Zeke has such a bright light to him too. He’s a great teammate. There’s so much love for him in the building, but you get to these spots, you know, the longer you’re in this league, these are tough decisions. Very difficult decisions. Very difficult for Dak (Prescott). You know, I’ve had a number of conversations with Dak, but it’s not easy.”

But, could McCarthy see a scenario in which Elliott actually returns at some point to the Cowboys? Apparently so.

“Yeah, definitely,” he responded. “I think you always keep the door open. Absolutely.”

Cowboys fans, would you be comfortable with Elliott eventually coming back and suiting up for the Cowboys once more?

Ezekiel Elliott refuses to comment on exit from Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are going to be looking considerably different next season, given the fact that they decided to part ways with popular former 2016 1st round Draft selection Ezekiel Elliott.

The unfortunate news for Elliott is that he’s been unable to find a new NFL home so far, but there’s still plenty of time before teams once again gather for training camp. It would be a stunner if there was a team who wasn’t willing to take a waiver on him.

In the meantime, he still remains a hugely popular figure in the community. He was swarmed by fans making an appearance at the ’’Light It Up’’ gala at the Hilton Anatole to help raise money for the Children’s Cancer Fund – though one thing he declined to talk about with media members was his exit from the team. However, he said that he was doing well.

“I’m doing great,” he responded. “Doing great.”

The fact that Elliott has been seen working out with quarterback Dak Prescott has given several of them hope that a return to the Cowboys could somehow be in the cards.

“He’s my best friend,’’ Prescott said when asked if he and Elliott were workout partners. “Hell yeah I’m throwing with him.’’

Does Prescott sense any frustration on Elliott’s part over remaining unsigned?

“I can’t tell you that,’’ Prescott said. “Honestly, I’m not going to pick on that. When I see him, I don’t talk about that.

“But hell, I would be.’’

Dak Prescott sounds off on potential Ezekiel Elliott return

When the Dallas Cowboys made the call to cut ties with popular running back Ezekiel Elliott last month, it was certainly bit of a culture shock for quarterback Dak Prescott, who has played his entire career with the popular running back that was taken from Ohio State University in 2016.

But what are the chances that Elliott could actually make his way back to the Cowboys? Team CEO Stephen Jones sounded open to the idea based on comments that he made, and now Prescott is openly endorsing the idea as well.

During an appearance on The Adam Schefter Podcast, Prescott expressed a desire for his longtime teammate to remain deep in the heart of Texas.

“Zeke. That one still doesn’t feel right, going into the facility, and starting the off-season program. He’s been my locker buddy for years, a guy that I would go to war with and do anything for in this world. It’s tough not going to work with him now but he’s somebody I support. He won’t be a free agent for long and I don’t understand why he still is.” stated Prescott.

“I know myself, and I could tell you there’s a lot of people on not only the team but also within the organization that would love that. I’m sure Zeke would as well. We understand that this is a business, the markets change, and things go up and down. So it doesn’t always work out the way we see it. But hopefully, that could happen.”

Cowboys fans, how would you like to see Elliott return to Dallas next season?

Ezekiel Elliott seen practicing with Dak Prescott!

While now-former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott continues to try and search for his new NFL home, he was recently seen practicing with a good friend named Dak Prescott. The pair were teammates with the Cowboys for years, and it certainly affected Prescott when the Cowboys made the call to release him.

Prescott had this to say when Elliott was cut:

“I really can’t imagine taking the field without him,” Prescott said. “It’s something that I don’t know if it’s completely hit me yet.”

“It’s tough. He’s a brother, playing the game with a brother to start our NFL career and share so many memories,” he continued. “We grew up as men with this organization.”

“Obviously, I’ve talked to him. I’m hurt. I’m sure he is,” Prescott said. “But it’s more important for me to just support him. I know he’s got more opportunities coming his way. I love that guy, I’m proud of him.”

Some are speculating that there is actually a chance that the Cowboys could elect to bring back Elliott at some point.

Ezekiel Elliott releases new workout video

When will Ezekiel Elliott be able to find a new NFL home?

He was let go by the Dallas Cowboys midway through last month, bringing an end to an era that saw him etch his name into the team record books and become one of the most popular players in recent memory. But after he struggled and posted career low numbers last season, the choice was made to move on from him rather than try and get him to agree to a lower contract.

Elliott’s alleged “wish list” of the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and the Cincinnati Bengals haven’t worked out the way that he was hoping, as all three have not shown any interest in bringing him aboard. But still, he’s not giving up hope.

Elliott recently posted a workout video of his as an enticing way to garner interest for the 2023 NFL season, given that he’s shown no indication of calling it quits on his career. Take a look for yourself at how the now-former Cowboys running back is staying in shape this offseason:

Real reasoning behind Ezekiel Elliott release revealed

The Dallas Cowboys made the decision last month to cut ties with former 1st round draft pick Ezekiel Elliott, who had suited up for them since being selected from Ohio State University in the 2016 NFL Draft. One of the most popular players on the roster amongst his teammates and fans, Elliott experienced a career low in statistics in 2022.

With the emergence of Tony Pollard, Elliott was made expendable. And rather than “insult” him by offering him a lower amount of compensation, the team simply elected to move on by cutting him.

Simply put, it was a matter of respect.

“When you’ve got players and we’ve had them over the years, whether it’s Emmitt Smith, whether it’s a DeMarcus Ware … these type of players you’ve got such respect for everything that they’ve done for your organization,” Jones reporters at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix. “The last thing we want to do is do anything that would be insulting to a player to a great player, like Zeke, who was one of the best players to ever put on a Cowboys uniform.

“(He was a) great competitor and (we’re) wishing nothing but the best if it turns out he didn’t return,” Stephen said. “But we never rule anything out around here. But yeah, there are sensitivities when you get into making offers.”

We’ll definitely miss having Elliott with the Cowboys. As of right now, however, he’s yet to find another NFL home.

Report: Ezekiel Elliott angry over lack of interest!

Elliott himself then reportedly came up with a “wish list” of three potential teams that he’d like to play for that included both the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles, though both teams didn’t reciprocate the interest. On Elliott’s list was also the New York Jets, though they sent a subtle message that they were happy with their running back unit as it currently stands.

And we can’t blame Elliott for being a bit frustrated right now with the lack of interest that he’s receiving from other NFL teams.

It’s hard to envision someone not taking a waiver on the former 1st round draft pick. However, it sounds as though Elliott may have to wait until closer to training camp when injuries begin to pile up. Where do you realistically envision him signing for the 2023 NFL season, and for what kind of financial compensation?

Ezekiel Elliott rejected yet again

In case you haven’t heard, the Dallas Cowboys made the decision late last month to cut ties with former 1st round draft pick Ezekiel Elliott.

And while you’d think that Elliott would have no trouble finding a new team, there’s the uncomfortable fact that he’s been dealing with several injuries combined with his having posted career low numbers last season.

Elliott reportedly came up with a “wish list” of sorts that allegedly included the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals. However, both the Jets and Bengals have shown no interest in bringing aboard the former Ohio State Buckeye.

And now, you can add the Eagles to the list of teams who don’t sound open to the idea of signing Elliott. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said that his team was happy with his squad’s running back situation:

Will Zeke find a new home this year?
