Rod Stewart Won’t Be the Face of Faces

It seems that Aerosmith isn’t the only band looking for a last-minute frontman.

The British band Faces, who shot to fame in the 1960s with Rod Stewart at the mic and Ron Wood on guitar, are planning to tour in 2010.  However, the group will have to perform without Stewart, who is too busy with his own projects to take part.

Rod Stewart is releasing a new album called Soulbook, which features remixes of old blues hits, and a busy promotion tour for Stewart is underway.

Keyboard player Ian McLagan was hoping that Stewart would be happy to join his former mates and tour the world.  He said, “We’ve been waiting and waiting for Rod to say yes; now he’s finally said no. He’s busy doing other shit. So we’re gonna do it.”

The remaining band members are now searching for another singer.  At the moment, it seems that the spot might be filled by Mick Hucknall of Simply Red.  Faces and Hucknall shared the stage together recently with magical results.

False Rumours Regarding The Faces

Contrary to several Web sites announcing that things were coming along concerning a Faces reunion, Rod Stewart’s spokesperson is denying all, Billboard.com reports.

Apparently, a reunion would be impossible since Ronnie Wood is working on his solo album and hasn’t recorded any new material with Stewart.

Additionally, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist, Flea, hasn’t confirmed anything about an upcoming tour with the British group.

Since last fall, there was buzz of a potential group reunion, including Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones.  The band officially split up in 1975.
