Leafs fan next to penalty box in Toronto causes trouble again!

That yellow-hoodie rowdy Maple Leafs from Game 1 of the first round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning was back at it again in Game 5 in Toronto on Thursday.

As Bolts enforcer Pat Maroon sat in the penalty box and there was the yellow hoodie, this time accompanied by an outfit matching friend, to get under his skin.

The fans started causing trouble again, though Maroon did not seem to bother by it this time around. Security walked over to make things didn’t get out of control.

Because we never know when Maroon is involved.

However, the Lightning forward was probably in a good mood, seeing that Tampa was able to hold on to its lead this time and force a Game 6 back in Florida on Saturday.

Can you imagine how many yellow sweaters we could see in Toronto if there has to be a do or die Game 7 in this intense series?!?

Stars media staff humiliates Wild fan during Game 5 shoutout

The Dallas Stars came out strong on Tuesday night, taking advantage earlier on road to a 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild. The Stars were better across the board, and that includes what the media team pulled off during the game on the Jumbo Tron.

As the Stars led 3-0 on route to take advantage in the first round series, the media team had some fun putting up live images of Wild fans attending the game in Dallas.

Then, they poked fun at some poor Wild fan who sported many piercing on his face and body, and added some caption to completely humiliated him.

This is what fans saw on the Jumbo Tron as the Stars’ media staff made fun of the Wild’s fan with the captions: “I’ve got a piercing for every time the Wild has disappointed me.”

And the question: “so what are you going to pierce next?”

Brutal. I can’t say if the insult hurt him as much as Marcus Foligno’s knee-on-knee hit with Radek Faksa during the first period. Faksa remained facedown on the ice after the collision near the blue line and had to be helped off the ice, which appeared to inspire Dallas to get the win for their fallen teammate.

Faksa did return to the game, Foligno was ejected and could face additional discipline, and that poor fan become famous for his piercings, some questionable jokes about a Prince Albert addition…

You have to admit that the Stars are playing a great game on the ice – and on the Jumbo Tron in Dallas!

Cottage Q&A: Pros and cons of running a furnace fan

What are the pros and cons of running a furnace fan when away from the cottage? I am looking to save on hydro but I worry about moisture buildup.—Ruta Valaitis, via email

Well, there’s really just the one major pro and the one major con. And you already know what they are. “Air circulation is almost always a good idea, but a furnace fan can be expensive,” says Don Fugler, an Ottawa building scientist. “Depending on the fan motor and its setting, a circulation fan can use from 300 to 1,500 watts continuously.” (That said, it might be possible for you to make some adjustments to the unit, for example, replacing the fan motor with one that’s more efficient.)

10 wood-burning stoves that will make you want to ditch your furnace

But, “here is one interesting fact,” says Fugler. “If you heat your cottage with electricity during the winter to keep it above freezing, the furnace fan electricity use will not add greatly to that cost. Those 300 to 1,500 watts of fan electricity will simply offset 300 to 1,500 watts of electric heating.” (This is assuming that your furnace runs on electricity, not natural gas, oil, or propane.)

So, if you regularly visit your cottage in the winter, it might be beneficial to leave the heat on low when you’re away—Fugler suggests at least 5°C—along with running the fan. Bonus: this’ll probably make the cottage visit more pleasant, certainly when you first arrive. “If you let the cottage go down to -10°C, or whatever ambient temperature is in the vicinity, it will take all weekend for the surfaces and bedding to get up to comfortable temperatures,” says Fugler.

Have you had moisture problems before? “Existing conditions are the best indication of the need for more ventilation,” says Fugler. “When people ask if they should add more attic vents, I ask if they have had to replace roof boards or sheathing due to rot.”

4 winter catastrophes and how to prevent them

Air circulation will help to minimize localized moisture problems, says Fugler—for example, window condensation that drips down onto the windowsill. But no fan in the universe will prevent moisture buildup if water is getting into the cottage from, say, leaks or a high water table. You’d want to resolve those problems before trying any ventilation solutions.

Razer’s $80 MagSafe fan will keep your iPhone cool while gaming

If you regularly game so hard on your smartphone that it gets uncomfortably hot, Razer’s new fan is for you.

Clocking in at $79.99 in Canada, the Razer Phone Cooler Chroma attaches to the back of your smartphone to help keep it cool during extended gaming sessions. And, naturally, the fan is decked out with RGB lighting — all gamers know RGB means it works better.

Razer’s Phone Cooler Chroma comes in two flavours: MagSafe compatible and ‘Universal Clamp.’ The first one doesn’t require much explanation — if you have a new iPhone with MagSafe, then you can attach the Phone Cooler to your iPhone with magnets. The Universal Clamp option should work for Android devices and iPhones without MagSafe. It uses a clamp mechanism to hold onto users’ phones.

The Phone Cooler works by drawing heat away from the smartphone using an electronic Peltier cooling tile. At a very base level, that means the Phone Cooler relies on the Peltier effect to draw heat from one side of the device (the phone) and transfer it to the other side (the fan). Then, the small seven-bladed fan in the Phone Cooler can dissipate the heat.

While that certainly sounds neat, there are a few drawbacks. For one, you’ll need to stay near a power outlet — the Phone Cooler needs power to work. To me, that seems like it defeats the purpose of gaming on a mobile device, but I suppose if you have a capable power brick you could maybe untether yourself from the nearest power outlet.

I’m also not sure how well the Phone Cooler Chroma would actually work. It’s fairly common for gaming phones to have advanced cooling systems and even fan attachments, but those typically work best when they make contact with the components that create the heat. As an example, when building a desktop computer, it’s important to properly connect your CPU fan to the CPU and use things like thermal paste to help transfer heat from the CPU into the heatsink so that the fan can help dissipate it. Tacking a fan onto the back of your phone might have some benefit, but I’m not sure how effective it’d be without more direct contact with the CPU and other heat-generating components.

Besides, using a fan on your smartphone to get a performance bump in mobile titles seems a bit overkill to me, but maybe that’s just because I’m an old grouch who doesn’t like mobile gaming 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Taylor Swift sends her fans gifts

Taylor Swift sends her most loyal fans gifts.

The 25-year-old pop superstar feels blessed to have such committed followers and to say thanks she tries to send as many of them presents at Christmas as she can.

When asked how she relates to her most committed fans, she said: ”It’s really not difficult. I know as soon as I say such a thing that it will make it a bit more difficult for other artists, because then they have to go on the Internet and get to know their fans more. Now I can afford it, I buy Christmas presents for my fans and I send gifts to my fans all over the world.”

The ‘Style’ singer – who is dating Calvin Harris – admits she really enjoys connecting with her fans on social media.

Taylor tries to speak to her followers one-on-one on Twitter because then she feels like she’s building meaningful relationships with the people who buy her music and go and see her perform.

Speaking to Germany’s Glamour magazine, she said: ”Connecting to my fans keeps me mentally healthy, when I connect with individual fans it feels less overwhelming than if I connect with thousands of fans at a time. If you see these fans in groups then are millions. But if you see them as individuals it’s much cooler to do your job because then it really means something to you.”

Martin Freeman doesn’t enjoy adulation

Martin Freeman doesn’t enjoy the adulation of ‘Sherlock’ fans.

The 43-year-old star, who plays the role of Dr. John Watson in the British crime drama, says filming is often disrupted by hoards of fans – the majority of whom are female – getting giddy with excitement.

He explained: ”When we’re [filming at] our stand-in for Baker Street, it is hard to do your job. And I don’t love it. I don’t love it.”

Asked whether fans shout at co-star Benedict Cumberbatch and himself, Martin said: ”No, they’re not. But you know… phew, it’s like trying to act at a premiere. It really is. I’ve never… I wasn’t in The Beatles. But I’ve never seen anything like it.

There’s such a heightened sense of excitement, so every time we come out there’s applauding – and it’s like, ‘No, can you n-‘ Or, if we do anything – ‘Cut!’ – applause… It’s like, ‘No, this isn’t a gig…”’

However, Martin stressed how much he appreciates the support of the fans.

He told the Independent on Sunday newspaper: ”Of course you want to be gracious with it. And I obviously very much appreciate, as do we all, the fact that people love it. But also, yeah, it doesn’t make you doing your job any easier.”

Daniel Radcliffe loves sporty girlfriend

Daniel Radcliffe finds his girlfriend’s passion for sport ”sexy”.

The ‘What If’ actor loves the fact Erin Darke is as big a fan of NFL as he is and finds it fascinating being able to discuss the game with her.

He admitted: ”She’s an obsessive Detroit Redwings fan – when your girlfriend can talk s**t about sports better than the men she’s doing that with, that’s pretty sexy.”

The 25-year-old actor also admitted he finds it hard to ”surpress” his emotions and is always honest about his feelings for the opposite sex.

Asked if he is as hopeless as women as his ‘What If’ character, he told The Guardian newspaper: ”No, I’m a lot better at being direct at things, I’m not good at suppressing that stuff. If I have a crush on a girl she’s going to know about it.”

The ‘Harry Potter’ actor prepares intensely for his movie roles and can’t even watch movies or go to the theater when learning a script as he just feels guilty about not being word-perfect.

He said: ”I can’t even watch plays or films when I’m learning lines. I start to think, hang on, they know all their lines and I don’t … so I have to go home immediately and learn them.”

Mark Ruffalo has lost wallet returned by fan

Mark Ruffalo had his lost wallet returned by a stranger who contacted him on Twitter.

The 46-year-old actor – who played The Hulk in ‘The Avengers’ – left his wallet in the back of a cab in Chicago, but was delighted it wasn’t gone forever after a fan contacted him on the social networking site to say he had picked it up.

The good Samaritan tweeted to the star: ”I have your wallet. Found it in a cab in Chicago on Friday. Let me know the best way to get it back to you. Thanks.”

It took a couple of days for the actor to see the message, but he could barely contain his gratitude when he did respond.

He said: ”Thank you! Wow! Another point for the decency in people.”

The pair then reportedly exchanged a few direct messages on the social networking website to arrange the safe return of the wallet.

The ‘Begin Again’ actor later concluded: ”You are a hero!”

Meanwhile, Mark recently expressed an interest in appearing in a Hulk solo movie, and he thinks it would be particularly fascinating to explore the conflict between his character Bruce Banner and his superhero alter ego.

He said recently: ”It could get very boring to watch the guy who’s moping around who doesn’t want to do the very thing that we’re all dying to see him do.

”And so I think that’s the tough part of cracking that nut. I think that’s what’s made it problematical in the past. But I do feel like we’ve gained some ground on this new version of him, which has – he’s sort of turning to face himself, and I think the relationship between Banner and The Hulk as a conscious conflict, it could be really interesting.”
